I haved been working on my BA for two years now that I broke off before going to Europe. I have another 18 months to go and then I'll be working on my Masters. So I guess as far as completion, I'm not done completing. :)

I have a PHD in violin performance from Paris so I checked PHD. But to get this I had to just pass out of the bachelors and masters program by audition and competition and then do 4 years of solo training so it was a bit unconventional. They do things very differently there. I also took bachelors and masters courses in high school by going to a university here in town where my old professor of violin was teaching me. I caught up on some courses I felt I needed after Paris as well because I knew I lacked a few things because of the way Paris skips over coursework if you play as if you have it - ah paree! In the end I have all of the degrees because of my paper work over there but I have the coursework from over here as well.

I definitely think you can skip steps, and why not?

Annoying but if you log out and click on "show results" it'll open it up as a full page and you can scroll over and view the PHD results!

I have an AOS (Associate of Occupational Studies) degree from the world's best culinary school. At the time I went to school that was the highest you could get as far as a degree or conventional education for culinary arts. But what I do have, that doesn't really come on a piece of paper, is years of valuable industry experience working for a 5 star restaurant, the most premier hotel company and many extremely well-trained European chefs and pastry chefs. I have also studied in Europe and with 2 noted pastry chefs who had private schools and have gold and bronze medals from the ACF from competitions. I was a finalist - one in 10 out of a 1000 that applies - for the World Pastry Cup Competition. And I have appeared in a few books and TV shows. And have ProChef2 status from my alma mater - that was a recent accomplishment that was a lot of hard work. But now best of all I have my own little company and the independence and quality of life that it brings to me. It is a great outlet for my creativity and I feel very fulfilled and very lucky.

So, I don't know how you would classify that.

I was thinking that someday I would like to get a degree - just because I have a passion for learning. But I don't know which one - and wouldn't even know where to start. And Lord knows I don't have the time right now with my sport and my DS and my business and the dogs and the house......

I totally agree!!! I do have that piece of paper- but I've learned to not put too much importance into it. EXPERIENCE counts for a whole lot, too! Which is one of the reasons why, when I was doing OLD- remember changing my requirements away from having to have a degree as a must-have. Sure, there are doors that open when you have a degree... but to STAY in that door (job door)- you have to be able to think and perform on the job! But does that degree REALLY matter when it comes to dating??? I just don't think so. It's just the PERSON, not the degree that matters.

And since reading the book by Tolle... it's so clear to me, that I don't need to find my identity in the labels. Because I have LIVED it- where the labels don't REALLY represent me- as there is more to me than those pieces of paper. It's really clear to me too- when I have a piece of paper that I don't even use. Not that I don't realize the value of a college education and how it can open doors... it's just that it's not a guarantee that you DO know what you are doing. My dad has NO degree whatsoever... but he is one of the smartest people I know, and can do just about ANYTHING (computer stuff, handy-man stuff, auto things, financial guru... all without any classes other than figuring it out himself by experience/trial/books).

Soonee- while I think seeing the "stats" for the readers of the board is neat... I do wonder just what you were curious about, when you posted this poll?? Did you think there might be some link to dating and degrees?

No, I don't think a degree (which, I agree, is a check-off-the-box kind of thing) is at all indicative of dating.

Okay, I guess not.
