What makes a woman beautiful?

Right now I am back at my cooking school in NY. Yes, I did spoil myself with the pleasure of another class/trip - it is needed for a weeklong exam I have in a few weeks. I simply love to learn and will cherish every day. Even if it is so so so cold here. There is snow on the ground, something I have not seen in a while - I had to dip a foolish toe in it just to hear the crunch!!

One good TV show I saw today was on the plane - they showed a performance and interview by Bonnie Rait on A&E - Breakfast with the Arts. She is 55 and she looks and sounds great. There is such a rich quality to an older woman who takes care of herself and seems so fulfilled with her work and life. She just glowed and was so beautiful - it was refreshing to see this after we are all bombarded with so many 20 somethings in tight skimpy clothes in the performance industry. I have never been an out and out fan of her music - probably more out of ignorance - but I really enjoyed her performance and personality on TV on that show today. It made me appreciate myself as a 40something and gave me a lot of confidence.

So I was thinking this could be a good thread - what do you think makes a woman beautiful? What makes you feel beautiful?

I think my answer to this question would come from my observations of older women - like what I saw today with Bonnie and also with some of my friends. Although this can surely be from younger women, too.

When a woman is happy, confident and fulfilled she is beautiful. She can laugh and smile and say positive things about her life and its lessons. Add this inner beauty to taking care of yourself physically and I think you have an irresistable winner!

I know I always feel my best when I have taken the time to put on a matching outfit and have inner peace. Not that these moments come often - there is reality when you are running late and have the disheveled reality of raising children ;-) LOL!!

I look forward to hearing everyone's observations!!

This will be a big can of worms on my part.
CONFIDENCE if a woman feels confident she will present much better to the public. By that I mean a person who is comfortable in their skin. You dont have to be skinny. There are many women who look confident that are large women.
DRESS you dont have to be dressed to the nines everywhere you go but try to look presentable. Sometimes we all kid that a poorly dressed kid looks like an orphan but as parents sometimes we have that look also.
HAPPINESS you have to be happy with yourself and your life. I see how many people look depressed and mad at the world. I dont want to see myself that way .
I know your thinking that the guy who wrote this off his rocker. How do I have time to do all this and be a single parent. Well I was married even though I was married I felt like a single parent. My ex hardly lifted a finger to help with the house or the kids . But I did all the school and after school actitives with them .The four of us got dressed on Sunday morning for church while mom stayed home.
Yes I do try to look my best at all times. I dress in slacks and button down shirts when not at work. Hey I may never know who I will meet or when.

Nothing says beautiful more than a women who has a kind, loving heart. When I think of beautiful, I think of Mother Theresa, her compassion and love for humanity, gave her such a warm, serene glow.
