I would probably try to wait longer for them to meet. And I would make sure I have a conversation with BF about my expectations of his role - and I would want to know his thoughts and fears.
I would try to explain to the kids that this is a friend - much like they have a friend.
And unless you think the relationship is really going somewhere, you might want to limit contact so the kids don't get attached - because that is really sad for them when they do - and then the person disappears. Kids have it hard enough just being kids never mind our dating which is hard for all of us! :-)
I think if you are out at a park and he meets up with you that is better. Not in their house and they are playing and having fun.
