Hi ya'll. So when a guy says "tell me about yourself," what is a good way to answer to make yourself sound interesting? I feel so lame going, well, I grew up here, this is my job and I have 2 kids. There's more to me than that but I'm verbally challenged in expressing it lol

Well, I would keep it light and fun. Possibly with a sense of humor if I could muster it. And of course making him want to know more!! I guess I would pick the most important things to me to mention - love the outdoors, simple things in life, reading, staying fit, having fun with DS doing silly things. And then ask him a question!!

This must be an online guy?

WELCOME!!

Good luck and keep us posted - and tell us more! We love details!

This is one of those things where I think it actually helps to do some "homework" and practice a spiel. Just like those annoying (but productive) assignments you get in business workshops- to come up with a 30-second spiel about yourself and your job. I've done so many of those things!! But consider it an assignment to come up with a spiel about yourself. About your personal self, possibly including your work, too- but a short spiel about who you are, what you like- and to make it sound different and original. Mention things that are "odd" about you, that make you stand out from the rest.

Like for me... I like to mention geocaching in my spiel. Most people don't know what it is, and if a man (or anyone) is genuinely interested in getting to know me- he will probably ask me to explain what geocaching is. If he doesn't even ask... I can safely assume that he either doesn't care, or wasn't even listening.

Start with one of your passions. What do you love to do? What makes you feel ALIVE inside when you do it? And if a man just isn't interested, then you can weed him out early on. You don't want to date someone who just isn't interested to hear more about your passions anyway. Even if he would never be interested in doing it himself, he should still want to hear you talk about it, because YOU are into it.

To try to put it simply... it's like a global treasure hunt. You don't compete against anyone but yourself, using your GPS to locate the 'treasure'. It's all listed online http://www.geocaching.com/ and that's where you can sign up (for free) and look for geocaches in your area. Get the GPS coordinates for them, and then go out hunting! Anyone can plant a cache (I've planted several in my area) and anyone can hunt for them (as long as you have a GPS). And it's not any kind of treasure that you can grab and keep, but you just exchange some trade items if you want, sign the logbook (to prove you were physically there) and then put the cache back in its place for whoever looks for it later on. And then once you get back home, you go back online and log your 'find' there too.

There's actually alot of details about the "game" but it's not hard to pick up. There's lots of info here: http://www.geocaching.com/about/

It's a hobby I've been playing since 2004, and Hiker had never done it... now I have him hunting with me, too! :-)

I know what geocaching is!!!!! It's not my passion - too much like my work, but I regularly teach workshops about how to use hand held GPS units.
