Where do I start?

I'm five months pregnant and already the mother of a wonderful 3 year old. Where should I start or look to meet new people? I am trying to get over breaking up with their father who turned out to be a self centered lieing cheat. Really, I just need a friend.

Welcome! And congratulations on your new growing baby!

IMO, this isn't the time for you to date. Especially if you are still trying to get over the ex, and especially while you're pg. Not that being pg is such a bad thing that you can't date or find someone... but just that your life is about to go through some more major changes in the next year or two... and it will be crazy enough without trying to fit dating time in there! I just think dating shouldn't be a high priority right now. You don't want to jump into a relationship with a new man as a band-aid to your recent hurts. That wouldn't be fair to either one of you!

As for finding a friend, or friends... that's fine! And necessary! But don't make it a limit that it has to be a MALE friend who you could eventually date. Meet other moms and make friends who will be around for all the mom things and baby things and not just social or dating situations.

And if you don't mind the cyber-type of friends... hang around with us on the board. I know I've learned ALOT just from the sharing of stories and lives here.

And I guess I never really answered your question, either... lol

I know that our local libraries have reading and sing-along programs for babies/toddlers/kids and you could look around in your area and meet other moms with young children that way.

Welcome to the board!

Honestly, I do not think now is the time to even think about dating.

Welcome lilmamabear - congrats on your next arrival.

I echo what Alison says - couldn't agree more.

I bet you can find a lot of friends because of the baby - there are a lot of fun mommy and me classes at the library and a lot of places.

We hope you stick around - you will see that a lot of us are not dating - or looking to date - or dating - or whatever. It is a fun place here - hope to see more of you!!
