I have to agree that I don't like the bar scene either but I have been online off and on for 4 1/2 years now. It has had it's ups and downs and I have actually met some very nice people and some who are still friends of mine.
I don't know if you attend church or are interested in that direction at all but I am going to try a singles redefined class. It is for people around 30 and older who have been divorced or ended up single with children. I got to meet the man and his wife that teach the class at this new church I'm attending. Haven't gotten my nerve up yet to do it but I want to! lol
This is what I have heard from others and from what I have read in different articles but you could check things out at the grocery store, golf course (don't play golf myself but if you ever wanted to learn you could get a cute guy to show you! lol), home improvement stores, or just hanging out with friends who have single friends. I know iVillage has good articles to read about this as well.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help! I hope I helped a little though. :) Good luck!
I think if you concentrate on rebuilding your social network you will do a lot to be happy and get out there. It is sort of a numbers game - the more people you meet, the more chances you have of meeting a nice single. Especially when you are doing stuff you like - that hopefully gets you to meet someone who likes what you like.
Men are here, there, everywhere and nowhere! Sorry - but that is just how it is. You have to be put together, filled with friends and activities and patient. OLD is not so bad - I think it gives you practice and to learn to spot a good one or bad one.
You will learn bucketloads here on this board - as we all have - hope to see you around more and to participate here. Welcome!
