Its turning out just like I suspected..... They all planned DS grad party and NOW I"M getting bills in the mail for MY share!!!


They wouldn't let my sis make and donate the hot beef, cuz what if someone got sick??? But it was ok for the other mother to make it??

The bill that I've gotten so far was a copy of the bill sent to Ds friends parents.

I would not pay. Nothing about payment was discussed at the outset- if she wanted you to contribute she should have made it clear from the start.

I would write her a note in a lovely thank you card and explain that you did not know you were expected to host this party with her - and you really thought you were a guest - and did not expect to have this expense and cannot afford it at this time. I would not pay - or at the very minimal - offer a token amount to help (maybe to cover YOUR meal?) and say it is the best you can do at this time and you do appreciate the wonderful day that she provided for your DS.

And here I thought she would pay for it, too, by the stories you typed. That is not fair that she did that at the end. I am sorry you have to deal with these rude people. There is nothing you can do to change their minds - it is not about you - it is about the malice they have in their own hearts.

Do not think of your daughter's ceremony at this time - it will only stress you further and it is far away in time. Things will change by that time.
