I ordered the "PERFECT" matching end tables (you know, my matching thing from last week, LOL) and they're HERE! My daughter told me. She's putting them together and I said I'd take her and a friend for coffee at B&N as her "payment"...

Now...I want my living room to be "party ready". It's small and I want it to be less crowded (the matching tables will help it look more together)...but I need ideas on "what a room needs to be party good"...

Help me out you all!

Ideas please?

Comfortable places to sit - scattered around.
Room to move.
No clutter - not too much "stuff"
A few magazines or neat books on the table.
A warm throw over the couch just to make it look cozy/inviting.

Glad to hear you got your new tables.

How fun! I LOVE new STUFF. Especially furniture. ;)

I have NOTHING for you on ideas other than that if you had access to HGTV somehow (Cable or Dish) I would say watch "Design on a Dime" because they always do such incredible things on that show for so little. When we buy a home, I'll probably start watching those show incessantly. LOL

The tables are put together and I am amazed, they change the WHOLE look of the room...I mean it looks much more put together. I've decided I'm going to move several things out of there and make it more thematic, because with the tables I can do that now and it will look right.

I have two big lamps (oriental designs on them) and two smaller shoji lamps...I'm going to move the bigger lamps out and have just the simpler shojis in the living room. It's going to be so COOL.... :)

I looked up a couple of websites about rearranging your furniture for a party. I have some nice, wooden, folding chairs that I will set up for extra seating, and a director's chair...and I can move the coffee table out for the evening. I think it will work.

I am so excited! I wanted 2 more shoji lamps, but not the same as the ones I had. I have been all over town finding the kind of things I want and I just knew no one had anything different. I had to go to Target though to get

:::::: And I love that I can just get them...no asking permission for this woman. :) ::::::

That is the way to go!! I think I was on such a mission to decorate because I wanted to get it all done before someone would come in my life and tell me what to do!! I do that with a lot of things now.

AND I LOVE your expression "money diet" and "keeping the purse zipped" - you are hilarious!! Very funny lady!! Very fun!!

I have to be on a money diet until the summer because I went a little wild around Xmas with clothes/makeup/shoes shopping.

Hey, I just did a quick search on shoji lamps because I didn't know what they were. I LOVE them. I am sure they set a great atmosphere. So "you" Candi!

Aren't they sweet? So simple and elegant. I'll have to post pics once I get everything arranged the way I want it.

That's an interesting concept...get it done before you meet a man. LOL

I really can't imagine asking permission for stuff. It's going to have to be a VERY different set up if I ever get hitched again. And he'd better like Asian style decor. :)
