You just never know.....

I have mentioned in a few messages that I am updating my kitchen. I bought a beautiful stove. And this has created a domino effect. I have to add gas and new cabinets. Okay so now it is a major remodeling project.

The cabinet guy came by to meet me and to measure the kitchen.

Then he came to present the design and price. He was quite stricken with me - couldn't take his eyes off of me and was trying to be professional but stumbling a bit. He was asking questions about what I do. Hmmmm..... I wasn't extremely attracted to him but he is a stranger so I thought, we will see maybe I just need to get to know him and give him a chance.....(AFTER the kitchen is done, of course!).

He came again to present another new design based on my changes of the first. It is a great design and well within the budget I wanted. By now my babysitters (who are sisters and also work part time in my home office) are getting excited because they think he is cute and can see he likes me. They are coming into the kitchen to ask questions when he is there.

He comes back again the next day with still another design to complete the challenge of the hood for the gas stove. I asked him how he learned to design a kitchen like that.

He went to school to be an architect. BUT then got married and had kids so he could not finish school and went to work for an architect. Then he worked for home depot and now he has his own business. But no mention of divorce. Oh well!! That is good for him but bad for me.

So I text messaged the babysitters the bad news.

BUT the morals to the story - you never know when someone will come along who likes you. And you can never assume that a guy is available just because he likes you and is not wearing a ring.

I thought you guys might appreciate that story. I am having a lot of work done on my house and have barely begun - so maybe there will be another!! ;-)

Great story Judy. Maybe, he thought if he said something, then it would look like a come on??? Totally agree that you just NEVER know when the right one will come around or if the "YOU THINK" right one, might be married or not. It should be LAW that all men married are required to wear a ring. Don't you hate that "it gets in my way at work." excuse??? Maybe for a mechanic, but for a banker? I don't think soooooooo......

Sending you a smile..........

Judy,

How sweet that he was so smitten with you. Could it be that he just failed to say he was divorced, or didn't want to say for fear of information overload?

Next time he's over try to work in the phrase "and how does your wife feel about that?" If he's not married, he will quickly tell you. If he's still married, then he will just answer. Men don't usually pick up on this line for info, so hopefully it will go right over his head that you asked.

So the girls think he's cute, I'm sure they are just loving it, aren't they? Probably teasing the heck out of you! I know I would be if I was their age!

You are so right, Alison - I will ask him if he spoils his wife with such beautiful cabinets!! Good idea.

And yes, the girls are so much fun. I am so blessed to have them in my life. They have taught me text messaging on my phone, how to dress better, etc. It is like getting 2 new sisters.
