It's rare for me to have a free night on the weekend without the three boys. My ex works in Law Enforcement on midnights and he works a rotating shift so my free days can really fall on any day of the week. It's alwasy changing. I was actually free last night and that was the first Friday night that I was free in a long time. Had a date and it went really well. Had dinner and hit the movies to see Little Miss Sunshine~two thumbs way up, btw. But back on subject~yeah, I'm usually in on the weekends. I use that time to catch up on a good DVD or do some reading~

Typically, I pick one weekend night (either Fri or Sat) to do something for me. Sometimes it's a date (although that's pretty rare) sometimes it's hanging out with friends, sometimes I go out dancing (I have friends in a band)... and sometimes I stay home both nights and chill with my children.
I am a full time mom, so that one night off is the only off time I get. I cherish it. My children also love the time they spend, either with their grandparents, or they have a group of sitters they adore. They also have friends in my friends' children, so soetimes we do a babysitting co-op if we're all going out together.
The weekend days are usually spent doing kid things and running errands. Sometimes, especially in the summer, we have fun, family oriented things to go to- parties, bbqs, picnics, etc. Usually, though, I keep Sundays free for just us, and just home. We clean, do any work that didn't get done during the week, and just try to have a lazy (HA!) day enjoying ourselves together. It doesn't happen every Sunday, but that's the goal. I think people (and especially kids) are way overbooked, and since mine were born, I've tried to incorporate one day just for us to not be "busy". We actually are very busy, but we try to not have anything we have to do, and only do what we want to.
This weekend, though, I took the kids to Hershey Park, and we had a great time!! It's about 200 miles from our house, so it was a long drive, but well worth it. The kids had a ball- I think I took about 500 pictures!
