Maybe I'm just too sensitive on this topic, but I thought this board was for *understanding* the opposite sex, not "battling"! I really, really, really dislike the message that this folder title sends.

Everybody has their own opinions and I respect that. I realize that with everything I do on here and in life in general....there are going to be some people that will support it and some people that are going to be against it....and I accept that. I'm sorry you don't like this folder but if you don't want to participate in it you don't have to....although I still hope you participate in the other folders. I was just looking for something to do on this board to get people more involved. There are a few people who do respond to most posts but there are several who don't. I thought this would be a good way to see what everyone's views were on different topics and to see if the two sexes really are that different after all....its not meant for people to "attack" each other but just to have a friendly debate.

I understand, I just think the title of the folder sends a negative message, that's all.

In the words of singer Joe Jackson, "if there's war between the sexes, then there'll be no people left."

Title" ITA...

**"I thought this board was for *understanding* the opposite sex, not "battling"!"**

...but I had decided to not be the first one to speak up, because I didn't want to be perceived as taking another "shot" at the new CL.

But you are totally right (IMHO)...it is just anotehr sign of how this board has really, really changed over the years - the orginal spirit of it (and its intended goal) has seemingly been totally lost...

Ok.....then please tell me....how to get you posters more involved?? I'm open for suggestions. I know there are guys lurking here but only a few posting. I see girls coming on here asking for the male perspective and very few people even respond.....and of the people who do respond....only a select few are actually male.....don't get me wrong....it's great for them to get the female's advice also but they're specifically asking for the male point of view. I just want to come on here and have a good time and I want the other posters to come on here and have a good time.....so if you have any suggestions to help that along...please share them because I'm wide open......

Title: We tried this...

way back before the board format changed. I think it would work better now, with this format.

How about some sort of "Top 10/20/100 things the sexes don't understand about each other" folder, where we can have discussions and debates about some of the most common questions asked. Some of these are "Why doesn't he call after a date", "Why does he look at porn", "Why does he go to strip clubs", "Why won't he commit to me", "Is it ok for a woman to ask a man out on a first date", etc etc.

A folder like this would serve two purposes: It would provide space for those of us with longstanding differences on these topics (and who are feeling ornery) to debate them without disrupting some poor new person's post. It would also provide someplace for us to point to when a new person asks one of the frequent questions, so those of us who have been on this board for years can stop writing exactly the same text over and over and over again.

Another idea: a folder entitled "The Man's View" which specifically asks our male posters their opinions on common "opposite sex" questions and concerns. There could be a corresponding "The Woman's View" folder as well. Again, these would be great to link to for new posters with common problems.

I too dislike the "battle of the sexes" concept on a number of levels. 1) I don't want to battle men, unless I'm in armor. I want to gain a better understanding of how they think so I can improve my relationships with men rather than constantly banging my head against a wall. 2) I'm not a typical woman, and I don't come down on what you refer to as the "girl's side" in most male/female debates. Just ask GoGoBear. ;-) So this format REALLY doesn't work for me on a personal level.

Thanks!!! You had some really good ideas in your post and I'm definitely going to take them into consideration and will try to work something out to apply some of them....I know the CM's aren't going to want a lot of folders on the board but I want to try and get some that will be used. I know that the "battle of the sexes" is a flop for the most part.....I would love to get everyone's opinion on this....is it the whole debate topic thing that you don't like or just the whole "battling" thing?? Because we could always have these debates in the off topic folder...just being normal debates no choosing male or female sides but just normal debating...but if nobody wants the debates at all it's kind of pointless.... This is you and the other posters' board....and I do want to cater to you and what you want....you just have to let me know....give me some kind of direction (which you have fc). Thanks again!!
