He was in town for a convention so he and Rutgirl (from Guy Talk) and I had dinner. It was very fun and he is as funny and thoughtful in person as he is on the board. It was great to see all his pictures of other UOS members he's met!

Sheri, sorry I've taken so long to post my side of the meeting. Between being in transit, not being able to post from work any more, and trying to get some of my tests graded, it's been difficult to find time to get online.

I really enjoyed meeting and having dinner with you and Rutgurl. That was an excellent restaurant that you picked for us, although I didn't expect to have to work so hard for my dinner(just kidding). I only wish the evening could have lasted longer, because I had a lot of fun talking and laughing with both of you lovely ladies.

I did want to add one thing about our conversation about emotionally unhealthy men and that is that I am living proof that it definitely curable. So don't give up on those shy guys who just need some encouragement.

I do hope that you or Rutgurl get a chance to come to Dallas some time soon so that I can return the favor.

You mean you people are actually real? I want to meet someone from the board! Sheesh, I'm the community leader and been on the board since 1998 and I haven't met anybody in person yet. If anybody plans on coming to or through the Kansas City area, let me know.

Who holds the record now? Gogo? I know someone out there beats 6 which is my current "number" for board members met.

Yeah, I think GoGo holds the record. Mine is 10, although 4 of them don't frequent the board anymore, and one posts very rarely.

I've met about 15 people from Ivillage in person, though most of them are from other Relationship boards. But from this board, so far, I've met Rice and Sylvie (remember him?) and I'll be meeting Cher and Artie in May along with a bunch of women from another board.

As I was saying to Rice the other night, I think it's so cool that I've gotten to meet a bunch of great people I never would have known because of the internet and ivillage.

I frequent a few boards... UOS, Guy Talk, Living Single mostly.

I think for this board I have met Gogo, Glammie, Brokk, Rozii, AntiP, Artie, Rice, PrarieDog, BuffyGirl, Smokey, Didy, Starry_Eyed...

I met 14 women from Living Together, and have pictures to prove it, but don't remember everyone as well as a select few- it was a whirlwind day.

I have met 3 from Living Single so far. (ChicagoCat, DeadParrotHead, MsMaestra)

I am meeting 7? (Is that right?) in SF from Living Single, and FighterChick from UOS in May.

I think I have a record???

Wow! You *have* met a whole bunch of people!

I forgot BuffyGirl on my list! I met her when she and her husband were here in Seattle on their honeymoon. I hope they are doing well...

Title: Well certainly counting all your friends on all the boards you frequent, you have me beat!!

I think I still might hold the UOS record however...

Prairie Dog. Still keep in touch, though she no longer posts. GG and her are good friends...they correspond often and talk occasionally via telephone. Have met several times, most recently in Las Vegas.

"Oracle"?? I actually don't remember her handle or name, but I met her the same day I first met Prairie Dog - I believe they were the first two board members I met. She posted for a while, but hasn't done so in years, save for recently, a few months back, she posted about her male friend who collected stuffed animals. Only met once.

Soullm8. A dear friend who I don't get to see nearly enough, but who I make sure to see whenever I am in Chicago. Or Las Vegas...lol. Anyway, we're close buddies, have hung out many times...Ann Sather’s, here we come!!

Didy. Another dear friend who I don't get to see often enough. I correspond with him periodically...see him and his dear wife Starry two or three times a year, whenever I am in their neck of the woods. Just exchanged emails with him yesterday. Posts rarely now, but on occasion.

Starry. See above. No longer posts.

Isabel. Yet another friend who I don't get to see often enough (that is the thing about friends you meet on the internet, huh?). We exchange emails periodically; I try to see her whenever I am in that part of the country, which usually works out to a couple times a year. Used to post regularly, years ago, but no longer does.

AntiP. And yet another dear friend who I don't get to see often enough. Saw her last time I was in Chicago. Also last time I was in Vegas (funny how that happens). She and her husband are also expecting...they are 3 months behind GG and I, so they are going to school on us...lol. I **think** I met her 2nd / 3rd...after my trip to Iowa to meet Prairie Dog. I could be wrong though...I tend to get the Soullm8 / AntiP order confused. No longer posts

Rice. Met him once in his hometown of Dallas (I don't think that is a secret) and again in my hometown of Chicago during a UOS gathering. Kewl guy…just as Sheri shared…likes a good steak and a cold beer.

Wiley. Met him several times to hang out when I lived in NYC. He actually took time out of his life to help me find an apartment when I first arrived in New York. Great guy. GG and he still exchange email every once in a blue moon, but he no longer posts.

Sisy. Met once during another UOS gathering, this time in NYC. Great guy, great fun.

Brokk. Yet another friend I don't get to see often enough (I know it is hard to believe given how much we differ on this board, but yes, I do consider him a friend, and enjoy his company). Have met he and his wife Rozii several times...once had them stay over at my place when I still lived in Chicago, once I traveled to Boston to hang out with him and Rozii and FC (more on that in a moment) for a little UOS gathering...once we got together in Indianapolis with AntiP and Soullm8, and he and Rozii were also present (along with FC) at the NYC UOS gathering. I "see" him often enough on this board that we don't need to correspond off of it...yet another great guy I am glad to know (even if he is weird...)

Rozii. See above. No longer posts, however.

FC. Met FC and her husband for the first time in California when I was in the Bay area once for business. Have met her and hubby twice since...at the previously mention UOS gatherings in Boston and New York City. Actually, in an interesting quirk of Internet six degrees of separation, she has had lunch with another friend of mine whom I also met on the internet and who works for the same company she does. Neat gal...quieter than you'd EVER guess from her posts.

Smokey. Met once, in Chicago, for my 33rd birthday. A bunch of friends, both UOS and Non- UOS, came for a party tossed for me by GG. Actually spent a few days with Smokey, and got to meet her family as well. Very neat person. We still correspond once in a very blue moon. No longer posts.

"Songbird"?? At that same party was a friend who Soullm8 forgot to mention. I don't remember her handle exactly, but it was something along the lines of "songbird", which she chose because she is in the music industry. We hung out several times when I lived in Chicago...we actually worked near each other, so we would get together for lunch. Once she came to New York on business and had dinner with GG and I. Mostly though I would go to see her and her husband perform in the Chicago area. Really neat person (everybody has been...amazing what a diverse group it is, yet all really kewl people). No longer posts.

Artie. Met once at a UOS gathering in Chicago. She is EXACTLY like she posts...smart, witty, funny, full of energy, polite most of the time, but not to be messed with. Cute southern accent, which I suspect she both hates and denies. Likes boots. And blonde, I don't care what she claims (just kidding...)

And, of course...The Glamorous One, who I went and married. We were "match made" to some degree by Prairie Dog, spent 3 months talking on the phone before we met in November of 1999, and have been friends (and more) since. Let's see...we have shared at different times 5 apartments between the two of us, in 4 cities, and two countries (not to mention countless hotel rooms around the globe). It has been, as she recently shared with a poster...complex. But worthwhile.

Amongst those I haven't met...our honourable CL Curtis, Sheri / Northwestwander (will fix that soon enough...my best friend lives in Seattle...it is only a matter of time, especially since her and GG are friends who correspond periodically) and BuffyGirl, who no longer posts, but is as dear a friend to me as a person could be without having ever met (she was invited to our wedding, but couldn't make it). Actually had a chance to meet BuffyGirl and her husband several month back, but stupid me forgot...I was in her hometown and didn't realize it until I was about to board the plane. We exchange emails weekly...she is way kewl.

17 total meets, and a few near misses. I think that still puts me on top. And, just in case, I have number 18 all set and ready to go...Baby GoGo's first post will put me in the lead for sure!!!

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to miss out on the S.F. trip, Sheri. I failed to take into account the fact that I'm graduating on May 17th. I'll have to catch you the next time.

I was so stoked about that trip, too. This is what happens when the brain gets no sleep.

Oh, no! I'm so sorry to hear that! But I suppose it's for a good reason ;-).
