L-word as a petname

My current FWB has always called me by various petnames: babe, sweetie, babydoll, and so on. Recently he started calling me "love" and I find myself kind of uncomfortable with it.

Am I over reacting? Thoughts?

To me, it depends how he is using is. With British mannerisms...

'Ello luv!

Or more serious sounding. "Yes, my love".

Either way, you might want to sit down and have a talk about it. Be honest. See what he says. It can hurt to have occasional reality checks.

Nope, no British accent being thrown on to it.

It's being used as in the more serious sense, I guess.

"Hello, love, how are you?"

"All right love, I'll talk to you later."

Pretty much in the same way you would use, babe or sweetie.

I'm not sure how to brooch the subject without sounding weird and I don't want to make a mountian out of a mole hill. I'm just finding it a bit disconcerning.

Thanks!

Oops, Brokk - I think you boo-boo'ed: "It can hurt to have occasional reality checks." I think you meant, "It CAN'T hurt to have occasional reality checks."

Is there something he used to call you that you particularly liked and were more comfortable with?

Maybe you could just say "Hey whatever happened to ?" If he says he was just trying to change things up a bit it might put you more at ease.

Well... Depending on the particular reality check (pinching yourself, or banging your head against the wall as examples...) it *can* hurt... :-)

However, you were right about the typo. It *can't* hurt to have occasional reality checks. Well, it can, but that's not really the point here... :-)
