I'm starting to wonder if men speak a different language really. I have to almost decipher a code to understand or at least it seems that way. I'm seeing this guy, really we are getting to know each other. He's been married twice and I divorced a couple years ago after 19 years of marriage. We taken wknd trips together and we enjoy each others company, and conversations. The other day we were talking and he said I'm enjoying getting to know you. You are a very wonderful woman and I've grown very fond og you. What the heck does that mean?

Men do speak a different language - they say what they mean, without a lot of euphemisms and hinting.  Take what he said at face value.

I disagree... I think men communicate exactly what they want to--sometimes, women refuse to accept what is being conveyed to them because they want what they want, which is something that he and/or his behavior is telling you he's not willing to provide.  Many guys do not want to have to break it all the way down and hurt the girls' feelings and make her cry, so they avoid that like the plague.

Many women will ignore red flags and their own intuition in the quest to be part of a couple with a particular man.

I think "fond" means that he likes you a lot; that the idea of you is growing on him, but he's not ready to tell you that he loves you or wants something uber-serious right at this time. If you let things take a natural course and allow his feelings for you to develop in their own time, he is amenable to moving in the direction in which you want things to go.

Happy fifties - he acted surprised and therefore wanted to know why or what about him attracts me, and He said he really cares for me and would like for our relationship to grow to see where it takes us. We will see?? I think he does want a relationship but is cautious as I am also. No one wants to make mistakes at our age- both 46

Ok so you told him how you felt and how did he react?

Did he say he has a boundry? Why do you now think he doesn't want a relationship?
