Finally, whenever anybody wants to know why guys like porn, we can send them to all of the previous posts! I'm getting use to the new board along with everybody else. So snoop around and let me know if you find something that needs explaining. If you find something new and cool, please let all of us know about it.

The one thing I found out is you cannot put angled brackets in the subject line as in ...

Let's try take two. I typed in my message, it errored out when I tried to preview it. I think it was complaining because I don't use emoticons. So then I added one, and previewed again, then it lost my text. I hope this one works...

I notice they've added lots of space for advertising...

How do you access the archives?

What's up with the "off topic threads"???

This format will definitely take some getting used to...

I think it is more difficult to find things, but, like Curtis suggested, maybe it will be easier to point people to specific topics. I *like* the fact that you can see the message you are responding to in your compose screen, although I think it should be on top, not on bottom, as a UI person.

Well, here's hoping we figure this format out...

Well I did find the archives. Blech! Near impossible to read or follow. Also, I can't find any of our recent posts, just the ones from before the last archive.

I also tried out the search option. It only seems to go back 1 calendar year. So we might need to rehash/repost some of the better posts every 9 months or so, or else lose them forever. I can't find a way to go back farther than 1 year. Which is too bad. Sometimes I refer back to some of the archives after the board was first created.

I found out from another board that the posts from the most recent 'old' board can be found by clicking on the outline view option and then scrolling down to the Archive section there. I haven't figured out how they are sorted, but it's definitely not the same order the original threads were posted in.

Still learning.... but you *can* have the greater than/less than <> in the subject line, but you cannot just post an NT message... there must be something in the message box or it won't post.

As far as the archives... that's too bad! I liked reading some of the old stuff too- reminds me how far I have come when I look back at my angst over things that don't impact me any longer... but I am sad that the boards that hold the history of some wonderfully forged friendships were removed without someone telling us. I might have saved the text of a few posts.

I tried that Rice. I still see only the most recent archive, not the most recent board before the new format took over.

Also, everyone might want to follow the link to "board settings". There isn't anything very usefull there, but I did find a check box for "Please send me junk mail from iVillage", that was conveniently pre-set to "On". How nice of them. So I turned it off. Each person needs to do this or else they'll gets email advertisements.

Interesting. I see yesterday's posts both on the archive and on the archive section of the outlive view. The last post on the old board was at 9:25 CST last night by pippsar entitled 'Why do guys lie to me?'

Also, I can't access the new boards using Netscape, so there must be some changes in the Java settings that I'm going to have to figure out. It seems to work well with Internet Explorer, which is odd, since I had all kinds of problems using IE to view the old boards. Plus the fact that I prefer Netscape to IE is just another adjustment I'm having to make.

OK. Now I'm seeing them in the outline format. I swear they weren't there before. Or perhaps they were, and I just couldn't find them. Either way, I can see them now. I found the thread I was looking for as well.

Funny, when you look at something via the archive, it doesn't give you all the same options as if you see it here. For example, you can't add someone as a "friend". The link is not there on the left for archived messages.

I can't open the threads from the "outline view". I can only view the titles. Am I doing something wrong?

Plus... How do I know if I've read a message already?

About viewing posts from the outline view (you're gonna love this), once you click on a post in the outline view you have to go back to the original window to view it. Also, to get the outline view to refresh and show anything that has posted since you opened the outline window, you have to right-click on some white space and then choose Refresh (or has someone already pointed that out?)
