Is it a man thing or what? Today I came to work with a totally different look. Over the weekend I cut my hair and I put some highlights on.

They might be in a relationship or married and feel it's inappropriate to comment on another woman's looks. Even if they are single, they still might think it's inappropriate to comment on a woman's looks in the workplace. Unwanted attention from the opposite sex in the workplace makes for a very uncomfortable environment!

Now if you told me that your friends didn't notice, that'd be different. :)

I very rarely lump all men in the same basket - but in this case I will.

I hate to sound mean, but they dont' say anything because they don't care.

Why would that be a big deal? You get haircuts/highlights for yourself, not to get comments, right?

Men dont care about the little details of looking good. Women care about that and well gay men. Women will pick out the smallest detail men just do a look over. Your at work men at work are there to just do that work not judge a beauty contest.Men get up in the morning put themselves together and go and really dont care what others think and they dont care how others look unless your a complete slob at a job that requires a suit. men are simple not complex

I think they just wouldn't bother saying anything unless the guy is interested in you.

I believe it is both a man thing, an office appropriate thing, and a single vs. attached thing.

In danger of stereotyping or grossly generalizing, most of us guys don't really notice or care about looks except when it comes to skimpy or movie star looks.

We may feel it is inappropriate to comment in a professional setting.

If I was attached then I may feel funny about complimenting another woman.

Snice the context is a work/office atmosphere, I would think it is normal for a straight male to not say anything. We live in a litigious culture so if I was in that atmosphere and noticed a woman had a new hair do or whatever, I may think to myself "wow. I like her new look" but I would never verbally say it to her. It wouldn't matter if I was in a relationship or not.

Depends on the workplace!
