Ready for the Winter Games?

Top stories to watch and what to expect in Vancouver:

The Olympics have returned. Athletes who ply their trade on snow and ice in relative obscurity until it's decided their most incredible feats merit incredible attention are back. Commence the scramble to discern a double-cork from a double-Salchow, a hog line from a high-line. Here are ten topics that look to dominate watercooler chatter when the calendar hits Feb. 12.

How much of the Olympics will you get to watch, and which contests will you like the best?

I for one am getting quite excited!

I'll be glued to the set tonight for the opening ceremonies, get a little quilting done at the same time. Ice dancing and regular skiing are my favs. Knowing how hard it is to get the feet out of each other's way with ballroom dancing, I'm in awe of the skaters who come within a hair of slicing into each other.

Here's some definitions - I'd need to print them out:

I LOVE the Olympics!!! I like most everything, and tend to get involved in whatever they're showing. Dovie got me all excited about the skating.

I get such a kick out of Shaun the snow boarder, and the speed skater (I can't ever remember his name) Yoko Ono Atlas Elvis. heehee. I always enjoy the biographies the broadcasters do. The mens figure skating should be amazing too.

So far this year, I haven't seen the clip of "The agony of defeat" where that poor skier falls off the ski jump.

I'm ready for some Olympic action!!

THATS the one, Dovie! Apolo Ono. In an interview yesterday he talked about how convenient it is to have The Games so close to home. I hope he does well.

I liked the snow too. It made it seem like they were outside. The special effects were so well done. I especially enjoyed the suspended guy who 'ran' through the prairie. He did such a beautiful job of that. Such artistry. It was a good opening. Too bad the torch didn't do what it was supposed to, but it didn't look bad at all with one missing.

We're watching Kansas State, DS's alma mater, and Colorado State basket ball. I hope they hurry so we can watch more Olympics!

It's been a really beautiful day today. Temps near 50, no wind and SUNNY!!!! I actually had some energy and got some extra cleaning done. I just wish I could have that kind of energy when it's cold and snowy and miserable outside! Man, I'd have the house in tip top shape after a winter like this one!

I know what you mean about the energy... some days I've got it, some days I don't! My one big accomplishment today was going thru my cookbooks.

Canada won a gold medal today -- yeah -- women's snowboard 8-)

Canadian Olympic clothes are a hot item -- can't keep them on the shelves. I want the Coke pins.
