First of all, Hello to flyinpfish, Angie, elc11, an any others I may have missed! Welcome to 50 & Fab, and elc11, thank you for your various visits to the board that I always seem to miss!  I hope to get more acquainted with each of you soon.....soon as my real life settles down enough that I can come in here and visit with all of you!

I need to explain that I am confused....Thia, flyinpfish, and other California gals here! What is meant by "N of the GG"? N is no doubt north, but GG? I googled it and failed, then googled 'N of the GG' and immediately 'Golden Gate' popped up! Is that what the GG stands for? Just curious on my part, and like a woman, I had to ask!

I lived in California a year, in an area 'we' used to call 'Northern Cal' way back in 'the 50s days'....Crescent City, definitely on the coast, and north of the redwoods...lol. Since those 'olden' days, I've been through your state a few times, but not too familiar with abbreviations used for different localities.

I enjoyed reading everyone's messages, and do hope to hear from each of you more often. Also, rest assured that just because our board is entitled "50 & Fabulous", it includes all you ladies that range in age from 50 through 60, 70, and beyond! After all, I was 70 when I joined back in 1998, and never left. We even welcome those ladies that are in their 40s and a few in their 30s used to post here as well. I hope to hear from them again...

Hey Thia (and everybody else),
I love hearing stories of people happily being together for many years... and wow, 30 years! Congratulations to you and your husband. Takes a lot of work, marriage. Kinda shakes up my world a bit. you know, having been single for years. Omg... now, I miss intimacy... with a man...
Moving on...
I'm fabulously fifty-one, and I, too, live in a small town N of the GG, up in the redwoods, but I'm on the coast... Beautiful here... even when I'm cursing the summer fog... course the hot summer sunshine is just a few miles inland. I've recently become a grandparent (to 6 month old Hannah—dazzling, she is!) which is awesome, except that they live a 3+ hour drive away. Bittersweet watching 'em grow up, indeed. I'm missing out right now, I know that, but I visit when I can. Nice to meet ya!

I am also a native, have lived here my entire life except for 1 year to the day when we moved for dh's job. When I was a kid we thought earthquakes were exciting, if the hanging lamp in the dining room was swinging it was a good one. As an adult and homeowner I obviously take a very different view of them now!!

Earthquakes? I didn't know that we were having any (well, other than the usual little ones). Guess I'll have to visit the USGS didyoufeelit website. Its a little humid here to seem like earthquake weather...I know, there's not supposed to be any such thing but sometimes I wonder! How long have you been in CA? I'm guessing long enough to be blase about the earthquakes LOL. ETA: I see that L.A. got a couple of 4.5's and a number of lesser quakes/aftershocks. I didn't feel any of them down here.

Its not supposed to get THAT hot here thank goodness, but its still pretty hot---it got to about 90 today at my house and I think Friday is supposed to be the worst. We may break down and turn on the AC. We've never used it, we got a unit installed last fall when we had to replace our furnace. I know its going to bump up the utility bill big time so I'm waiting until I can't stand the heat to turn it on!

I stopped to chat, I'm not Fifty and Fab anymore...how about Sixty and Superb? or something like that lol. I'm the cl for a similarly themed board, 50ish and Beyond Parents, but I drop in here sometimes to see if there's anything going on...we all have to pitch in to keep the boards active. And I suspect that the cl Liz is on vacay right now.

We're getting a heat wave down in my part of the state. How's it up where you are?

Hi Thia, welcome to being a  CM. I'm not really a "regular" at this board but I stop in occasionally to see what's going on. I'm in CA also, San Diego area. Where are you?
