Welcome to the board, Kata.

Please, if you feel suicidal, please seek help immediately by calling 911, your local authorities, or the Suicide Hotline, 1-800-273-TALK.

Have you looked into Social Security disability benefits? Here's a link with some more information: http://www.ssa.gov/dibplan/dqualify.htm

You can apply online or visit your local Social Security office. If you aren't able to look at the site, here's their phone number: 1-800-772-1213.

What a special group of people you all are. I hope that your message is heard. After reading this post, I was at a loss, I didn't know how to respond. There was just too much to cover and I didn't want to say the wrong thing. Just reading your posts helped me feel better. Again, I hope Kata hears your message.

Hi..I'm sorry for all that has happened. I want to say that I have went through many similar things. I had both a mother and father and was an only child though my father made me go to work full time at 15. I also had a con man take a great deal of my assets right at the time I was becoming very ill with Epilepsy, Lupus, Copd and a host of other chronic illnesses. I am a couple years younger then you but I have been ill for about ten years now. I didn't read through all the replys so Im not sure what all people have told you about getting on disability but it is difficult no matter how ill you are. I was in

This is Kata1l again. Thanks everyone. To make a quick story short, I made an appt. at a big free clinic in downtown Atlanta. We had a big snowstorm, and appt. got rescheduled in March. In March, volunteer doctor quit day of appt, so rescheduled for April 14. In meantime, i tried to improve my lot by getting a real job at an answering service, and staying on part time at beauty shop. she hired a new full time gal, and the answering svd. told me after 2 weeks that i was not learning fast enough and fired me. i have just enough money to pay my rent for 2 weeks and my bills this month, and that is it. one day a week at the beauty shop will not

{{{Huge HUGGS, Kata!}}} What a rough patch you've been going through these last few months, especially with all the rescheduled appointments and being fired from a job you put your best at! Try not to beat yourself up by feeling ashamed at what has been happening, for I totally understand how you must feel! I became 'immediately homeless' once when a roommate kicked me out some years back, and put all my worldly possessions into a storage unit! Luckily, good friends took me in and I started my life all over again. I was in my 50s and my kids were out of the home so I made it back on my feet a bit quicker.

I totally agree with Jen and wishing you good vibes at the Department of Family and Children today! When they learn of your plight, I'm sure they'll come through with a plan to help you out. Please do, come back and let all of us know how things turned out for we'll be waiting to hear from you!
