Time to catch up

I went to visit DB & family in mid-FL a week ago, had a great time. If I ever win the lottery, I'm going to buy a Winter escape there. Next part of my trip was to travel to AL last Monday, to visit DS & DDIL. No more than got there, when DH sent me email that DGrS had gotten into trouble with the law. He's just not been the same, mentally, since his tour of Iraq. Seems he & his DW hid his abuse until it got out of hand and she had to call the sheriff. His DSis (our eldest DGrD) was so upset, and is 6 mos pregnant, so I felt I needed to be back here to lend whatever support is needed. This was okay, as a had soon realized that 4 days visiting folks with fragile health was too much. So, after a short 24 hour visit, I was back on a plane heading home. The flight delays out of Atlanta were horrendous, but at least I got home. Some travelers never got into the airport in time to catch the last flight out. Our plane was only 1/2 full.

Also resolved not to bunk with folks who have radically different sleeping hours. Both households go to sleep around 2-3 AM, then sleep till noon. DH & I both are up early, then not off during 10 PM news. If we are in a hotel, it's not a problem - we can always entertain ourselves. Very hard for me to sleep with TV blaring, so I was very tired when I got home. But - a nice nap on the sofa with my furbaby yesterday and I'm back to normal.

So - except for missing the temps in high 60s, I'm glad to be home. So far, no one has needed me, so I'm off to get my computer glasses repaired - hate looking out of bifocals to see this screen.

Hugs to you Jacquie, I'm so sorry to hear about your DGS, we can't even imagine the things he has seen. Oldest SS was a Marine and long before I knew him, HD is always thankful he (and his younger brother) didn't kill someone in a bar brawl.

Glad you had a great time!!! Wish I could go somewhere warm -- second snow storm this week. Buses cancelled third time -- twice due to snow once to dense fog. We are suppose to have freezing rain today -- oh joy. Glad to be able to stay in!!!! Just six more weeks then spring will be here 8-)

Sorry to hear your DGrS is having a hard time. I hope he can find his way over that mountain. War is such a terrible thing. I don't think anyone from any generation who served, men or women, went unscathed. Bless his heart.

I know how you feel about being home though. Sleeping in my own bed is the greatest treat for me. When I was finally able to sleep in my bed without two compression boots I was in hog heaven. To this day, if I lie down on my bed, I drop right off to sleep. LOL
