Hi there !!

My name is Bettina, I live in Ft Worth Texas. I have quite a few friends here but they are all married, I am 30, single and most of the time I love it. I just thought it would be fun to meet new people from all over the US. Guess I oughta tell ya a bit about me, huh ? Well, I have 3 cats instead of children. I used to work at the zoo and this past summer I went on the trip of a lifetime to the land down under, Australia. I was there for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it. I am planning a trip back in the next few years. I am currently working as a chemist, not my passion, but a job that supports me and my cats. I have joined Yahoo! personals as a way to try to find a romance, but it is really hard to meet women that way that you can confide in and and laugh with. And I guess that is what I am looking for .

Welcome to the board, Bettina! This is a good place to make new girlfriends except that it's all online.

I'm 32, single, and live in Canada (but will move to the States as soon as I find a new job/get into teachers' college here).

Hope to see you hear again!

Nice to meet you, Bettina. Good luck with the romance. And, feel happy that you have a real job. Right now, I am substitute teaching:(!

Sap, you say you are living in Canada until you can go to teachers' college? Where do you want to go? I will soon be going to U Buffalo, but for the opposite reason: I want to join my bf in Canada some day, but for now, can't get past your immigration Nazis.

Express!

HI Beth !!

I was a substitute teacher for about a year right after college. I had a blast. I made my own schedule, had very little responsibilities and had the weekends off. Right now I would give almost anything to just have weekends off !! But I am thankful I have a job with so many people being let go these days.

As for the immigration Nazis in Canada, we have em here too. A friend of mine moved here from Australia and married an American, immediate green card right ? Wrong !! Immigration is giving her the biggest run around. It took her over 6 months to get a green card so she could work and now they wont let her leave the US for about 2 years until more paperwork has gone through. It is a mess. I wish you much much luck !!

Hi Bettina!

Welcome to the board!

My name is Jennifer, and I live in Arizona. I'm 31 years old, married, and have no children. I also have 3 adorable cats!

How exciting it must have been to go to Australia?! Do you have some type of roots there, or did you just really want to visit?

I look forward to hearing from you here in the future:)

I'm a video editor in LA (how cliche, huh?) but I'm thinking of becoming a life coach. I have no idea where to start, but I don't want a job that dictates where I live, especially when it says I have to live in a city that I don't enjoy very much!

HI Jennifer !

I went to Australia with 2 other single girls just as a fun vacation. One of the girls was my roommate from college and this was her graduation from vet school gift. We had a great time ! I do hope to go back some day and get to SCUBA a little more.

What kind of cats do you have ? I have just regular ole cats. One of them looks like Morris, one is a silver tabby and the other is white and orange. They are 11, 9 & 2.

Bettina,

My cats are just mutts! My oldest is Gracie; she's 2 1/2, and has long black hair, with white feet and a white chest. My middle child is Maddie, who just turned 1; she has short black hair, and also has white feet and a white chest/partial face. Our baby is Lily, who is 7 months. She's part Siamese, so has their coloring on her face, back and tail; the rest of her is white. We've adopted all 3 from local shelters, and thoroughly enjoy them:)

I've never travelled outside of the US; I would very much like to go to Europe someday, though. My hubby would love to go to London, and, having recently found out about my ancestry, I'd like to visit Scotland and Norway. Maybe someday:)

Hi Jennifer

What is your ancestry ? I am German and have had to good fortune to have been to Germany several times to visit my relatives there.

Your kittens sound very cute. I had forgotten how much trouble and fun kittens could be. Buddy ( my 2 year old ) really got me all confused with his silly kitten antics. The other 2 ( or big boys as I call them ) were so layed back and calm as kittens and even more so as they grew up. Buddy really put us all into a head spin !

So what do you do in Arizona ? How long have you been married ?

:-)

Hi Bettina!

Actually, I haven't found anything concrete, but we suspect my great-great grandfather may have been German! My great-great grandmother (his wife) came over from Norway as an infant. On my Dad's side, his paternal lineage goes back to Scotland. It's really exciting each time I find out something new about my ancestry, but can also be quite frustrating at times trying to track the information down!

My babies are definitely a handfull! We got Gracie when she was a year old, so pretty much past the bulk of her kitten stage. She's so calm and relaxed; then we got Maddie! We adopted her when she was 6 weeks old, and what a handful she's been! Maddie is without a doubt her Daddy's baby! Then this past summer we adopted Lily to give Maddie a playmate, since Gracie is so sedate. The two kittens really keep us hopping:)

I've been with my hubby for 9 years in January, though we just celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary in September. I was beginning to think he would never propose!

I actually work for the government, the County, to be exact. I'm an executive assistant. While I think I'm grossly underpaid, it's rewarding work.

So you're a chemist? That must be exciting! Do you work for a private organization?

Jennifer:)

Hi Jennifer !!

Sounds like you are having a lot of fun "tracing your roots". One of my moms aunts did that on her side about 20 years ago, they are from Ireland many many many moons ago. No one has ever done it on my dads side to see if there is anything fun in that line though.

9 years, that is great !! I dated a guy for about 4 1/2 years and finally realized ( when he took another woman to Las Vegas ) that it was just not meant to be, so I got out of that a little over a year ago and have been single ever since. Some days it is a ton of fun but other days I really miss the comfort of being with someone. I dont really miss him too much anymore, he is with someone else now and he is her problem, I just hope he treats her better than he treated me.

It is refreshing to hear someone say that they like their job. My job is purely income. I did have my dream job for about a year but had to quit, once again soley because of lack of income. The chemistry part can be kind of exciting. When something breaks and I have to figure out how to fix it and I do, that is a lot of fun. Yes, the company I work for is privately owned and operated. It is nice that way, we dont have lots of people to answer to when we need new things or when things go wrong. I have never worked for a publically owned company, but one guy in our lab has and said that the paper trail is miles long. We dont have that!!

:-)
