Hi girls!!! (and any guys who may appear here sometimes)

How are you all? How has the first week of April treated so far? Any pranks? My April 1 was really quiet.

For those of you who don't know or remember me, my name is Sapna and I was living and working in China not too long ago. I'd been there 1.5 years (nearly 2 years, in fact), but left due to a layoff, not due to performance issues/personality clashes but due to an extremely light workload, which was compounded by my poor Mandarin (it was a local education start-up). So, I left China two weeks ago on March 17 (after trying in vain to find a new job there -- it was too close to my work visa expiry date, and I could only get a tourist visa valid for only 10 more days), plus I wanted to take a break from there, so here I am in India, where my parents now live, giving them some much-needed face time (hadn't seen them in 1.5 years, and haven't seen India in 12 years!).

And I'm relaxing and also deciding on the next step, and I've decided that I want to come to your side of the world -- well, where most of you are i.e. the USA, because I still believe in this country inspite of its current situation and other recent upheavals e.g. 9/11, war with Iraq. Above all, I consider myself lucky to have been born here. I'd love to live in some dynamic large/medium-sized city where there'd be lots of single professionals in their 30s, where you could get around easily even without a car, and of course, somewhere safe and clean and used to ethnic minorities.

At this point, I'm ready to settle down, both in my professional life i.e. career vs. just any job, and in my personal life i.e. man-wise (and the pickings are obviously slimmer in China, plus with me constantly getting sick there, and with the current SARS scare going around, i don't know any more, although i did enjoy my time there and have no regrets about going there). I'd love to have a full-time PR/corporate communications job where I could use my strong editing and writing skills plus perform other interesting tasks e.g. help organize and/or participate in business events. I have a journalism background, and an undergraduate degree in English and Psychology.

So, this is me in the moment. I hope all of you have a great day!
