How do I get a support system.

Just wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom....I have had a really hard time meeting quality friends and a support system

Honestly, I think making friends is a lot like dating a lot of the time. You wouldn't go on a first date looking for a husband. Well, maybe some people would, but I don't think that's the right way to go. And on the same token, you shouldn't approach potential friends like they're going to be your life-long support system. No emotionally healthy person is going to be interested in that! I think friendships should start out casual doing things together like movies and shopping. Throw in a lunch here, drinks there, maybe an occasional dinner. As you get to know each other better, the friendship will deepen. But it has to happen naturally. And I've found it usually takes a year or so to form the kind of friendship you're looking for.

I think it's important that you don't put too much pressure to find a whole lot of friends all at once.
