Hi there! My name is Christina. I recently got married in Feb. I lived in GA my whole life until April when me and my husband moved to WA. It has been a journey. My husband will be heading off to Iraq soon (a month). I have gained a few pounds since I met my best friend (my husband). I am going to visiting my family & friends for 6 wks over the holidays. I will be celebrating my "30th" birthday in Dec. I want to have a makeover done. Mostly my hair & makeup. Why? My hair is short, but desperately trying to grow it out so that their will be more thickness in the back. My hair is naturally dark brown. I have highlights that are growing out. Thinking about red, brown with big/bold chunky highlights. Confused. I want to feel "30" and look "30". Everyone at work says that I look like I am 25. I want to do something exciting for my 30th. Does anyone have any suggestions on party ideas or makeover ideas. Any are helpful and very appreciated.

Hi there, Christina!

Welcome to the board, we're glad to have you!!

Congrats on your recent nuptials! whoo hoo, and from what I understand, from your post, you're a Mil wife, to boot, eh? Hee, hee.

As far as wanting to look 30, don't push it! LOL! Most people want to stay looking younger! I've been told I still look 25, and boy, am I ever happy bout that! LOL! The best thing I can suggest, as far as a new hairstyle...pay attention to the other women you come in contact with, and when you see a style you like, ask after her stylist. Find someone that you can trust. Don't do anything drastic, unless you're a big risk taker, in which case, that's what life's all about!

Hmmmm...turning 30. It's all in how you want to celebrate it. I had a dinner and a date with my DH...LOL...and that's about it. Turning 30 was more about self introspection for me. However, I've heard the big bashes are fun too! LOL! You can always turn it into a day for you. Manicure, pedicure, spa treatment, the works! Maybe lunch or dinner with girlfriends, and/or their SO and your DH. Maybe just something between you and DH.

Let us know what you opt for, as that magical moment approaches! Keep on posting, so we can get to know you better!

Yeah...I wouldn't push looking 30 either. I am in the same boat as you. People often tell me I look like I'm 25. To me, that's the ultimate compliment because I am growing old gracefully and it will stay that way for many years to come!

I agree with the previous poster for the makeover ideas. Pay attention to what you like and go for it! If you want longer hair, consider extensions. They can be pricey, though, so watch out for that.

As for a birthday bash, some whoop it up, some bring it in quietly. As for me, I whooped it up. I invited 12 of my closest friends (and one of my brothers) to join me for a huge Italian meal at one of my fave restaurants, then we went out dancing. It was a fun evening! I loved turning 30! But now that's well behind me and I look forward to the next milestone!
