Recycling Matters

I truly and strongly support recycling, in every variety. I am the person who scrubs off labels of cans of soup and juice bottles. Not everyone has the same beliefs, though, something that's difficult for me to understand as the well being of Mother Earth is all we've got left on this planet (see where I'm coming from, ha ha). I see people in my mother's development putting their recyclable in the same trash bags as their main trash ( I see them peaking through the trash bags) and it really bothers me. Getting to the matter at hand, in the same development, I've been watching on Saturdays a little girl who's parents are not that much older than I am. When I babysit her on weekends I see that these people don't even have a recycle bin in their house!, so they don't make the slighest effort to comply with the law. I asked them about it and they said they lost it and forgot to order a new one through the township. Fine, I thought at first. Well, that was a month ago and obviously they have no intention on following up on their statement.

IS IT OKAY FOR ME TO ORDER IT FOR THEM? I don't want to overstep my boundaries here, but as you can see by now it is a big deal to me. Before some of you jump all over me and say it is not my business, isn't there a way to politely go about the situation?

I think that you should get them a recycling bin. It's obviously something that's very important to you, and though there's no guarantee they will use it - at least you are showing them that it is important to you & maybe they will use it. They might think you are over stepping your boundaries, but it is for a good cause - I think it is okay. Good luck. I will also try to recycle more. :)

Hi there. I think you've already mentioned it to them and now

it is up to them to pursue getting a new recycling bin or not.

As long as you are recycling your products in your home, that's

terrific, but I don't think you should expect everyone to follow

your lead and don't think it's your place to force others to do

so. JMO
