Should I be embarassed?

Good evening friends! I am almost 36 and haven't dated in almost 2 years. In the past month, I have had my eye on a manager at a local grocery store. He's probably 15 years older than me but has the kindest eyes and is very attractive. Recently I have dressed up just to go to the grocery store in case I meet up with him. I've not been able to "click" with his time schedule so today I made, what was for me, a bold move. I asked a cashier if he was married. She said no and asked me why. I said, well I think he is cute. She turned red and started laughing. I have spoken with my 2 best friends who do not live here. They have both told me not to be embarassed and that I should pursue the possibility. Frankly, I'm humiliated about the cashier laughing at me but am wondering if I should go back to the store. I'm afraid everyone who works there would recognize me and laugh. However, this is the first person I have been interested in in a long time. Does anyone have some advice?

The cashier probably doesn't see her boss in a "cute" way, so thought it was funny......she may have thought it was sweet that someone would ask after him...maybe he was just making his own comments that he is lonely and doesn't date- you never know. Anyway, I think you should continue going in and when the chance is right, ask him out- if someone laughing is the worst that could happen then you'll be never k now, the best that could happen is you fall in love and are profoundly happy for the rest of your life- and the cashier story becomes the story you giggle about whenever you tell the "how we met" tale!!! good luck, Jemma

Don't be embarrassed. She probably only thinks of him as the manager. The laughter was probably nervous laughter. My brother works at a local grocery store. When I go in to see him, everyone thinks I am his girlfriend. They harass him about it. Poor guy! He turns red and tells them I am his sister! LOL.

Thank you for the advice! I did not return to the store today because I felt so ashamed. Due to your responses, I felt more confident. I will try to find out when he works again and will go back to the store.

First thing's first! Ask this girl exactly why she laughed, you never know maybe she knows something you don't. I'd find out fast if I was you.

What do you have to lose? I say you should get to know him. Find out when he is there and see if he shows some return interest! If he is showing interest, offer friendship and take some time to get to know him.

Good luck!

Don't worry about her!! She could be one of those giggly type people! Besides who cares that she laughed, it wasn't him that did! I'm sure he won't let her giggle detour him from a date if he choses to go. I'd go in everyone else said what do you have to lose?

Good luck!!

15 years older? What happens longer term? Not to say it never works with age difference,

but in my opinion the age is too great.

Hello, whatever happened to inquiring about his marital status through the public records? This is 21st century, you can find out almost anything about anyone through the legal docs. I would definitely run through his criminal record while you're at it, this might be the most important information you need! I'm serious!
