I found this article in my online local newspaper. I think it's entirely appropriate for all of you out there who are single and dreading the upcoming holidays.

It bummed me out to come here to hear voices of fellow peers and to see just a link under someone's post. I prefer to express my knowledge in my own words, rather than let a book or article do the talking for me. Some may not agree. Well I hope it's still ok to let this be an opinion that not all of you need to take.

Sorry if I bothered you with my post. Usually I like to post articles that can SUPPLEMENT my own opinions about things. Some people also don't have lots of time to go into detail with their own opinions. Sometimes I have time, some times I don't. In this case, I just thought it was a timely article and I wanted to share it.

Caroline...

I'm glad you saw our web site. My son's story is certainly remarkable. The one thing that I will never forget is that when I got to the hospital, my husband had to sign papers that would either save me or the baby, whichever he chose, should something go wrong. He said to me much later that he saved me because we could always find a way to have another child. Boy, was I glad he said that!

My DS is now 6 (in 2 weeks) and normal and healthy. He is on the short side, but has NO health problems related to being so premature. He could've had SO many things go wrong, but miraculously, he survived everything and even has perfect eyesight. He went through speech therapy between 2 and 3 years old because he wasn't talking, and he went through physical therapy because his mucles were not as flexible as another other child, but he got through both with flying colors.

He is LOVING kindergarten and considers himself a really big boy now. You can see it in how he acts around his friends now. He's learning at the same level everyone else is and there is no difference between him or any other kid. (He's not even the shortest in his class!)

I am a God-fearing person and I truly believe God had his hand in this little boy's life. I can no longer have children as I recently underwent surgery for cervical cancer, so my son is even more precious to me than anything!

His is quite the story and I've actually sent it in to Chicken Soup for the Soul. Still waiting to hear back from them. Last I heard, it could take up to 3 years to get any response. It's been one year.
