Stupid comments from others...

The other day I'm at work and seated next to a very chatty early 20something.  Her chatter didn't distract from my work so I engaged her.  Well then she asks me if I have a bf, to which I replied no.  Her response was to ask me if I'm going to become a lesbian since I'm 30 and still single.  *eye roll*  As if lesbians don't have trouble meeting the right someone.  *double eye roll*

Yeah I was totally startled by her comment and then I realized that she had no clue how ridiculous she sounded. She was completely serious about that being a valid option. I just chuckled and said that I didn't think that would work for me.

I can tell you right now that I was not that clueless in my early 20s. My guess is this girl was probably a bit sheltered, whereas I wasn't. But yes it so weird being 30 and finding I can't relate to the current crop of 20somethings at all lol.

(sigh)  What was your response to her?  Do others "think" what they are saying before speaking?  I sapose not.  And, why does it matter if your single, or dating.  Or what your sexual orientation is?  Sounds like she was making conversation, but if I was you, my mouth would have dropped!

I work PRN (part time) and often work with different people in their twenties.  To me, there seems to be a major gap between a co worker who is in their twenties vs.. us in our 30's.  I find it hard to relate sometimes.

Just my thoughts :smileyhappy:
