Well, I'm adjusting to not having volleyball games to attend.
We are still on a little bit of a roller coaster, but I am becoming truly thankful for the good moments and good days we have. Yesterday was such a good day. I picked up DSS from school. His mom is always there to pick up DSD, as well, so he sees her every day - although he's not living with her right now. Last time I picked him up, he had a major meltdown because he wasn't going home with mommy, poor kid :(. Yesterday, though, he was in a good mood, was happy to see me and came home with me no problem. He and I went to the library to pick out books and movies, and had a good dinner together. C. came home from his business trip earlier than expected last night, so I also got to spend some great quality time with him. He was only gone for two days, but I really missed him.
It was a good day. :) I am looking forward to a ton of time off next week. DSS is off school ALL WEEK (do other school districts do that for Thanksgiving?). His mom is keeping him this coming weekend through Monday afternoon. I will stay home with him Tuesday and Wednesday, and then we have both kids Thursday - Sunday Thanksgiving weekend. We are taking them to a kids' play the day after Thanksgiving. My best friend, her husband and her twin girls are joining us. One of our mutual friends is an actor in the play, so it will be nice to see him, too. I am super excited for that.
AJ, enjoying life with C.
>>I can't imagine the trouble your DSS has dealing with the idea that Mom can keep sis but not him.<<Yesterday was especially stupid. I actually went to school to pick up DSD5 because their mom had taken DSS8 to the dentist for a toothache -- and she wasn't sure when they would be done. Turns out, she was back at school with DSS8 by the time I got there -- so I took him instead of DSD. She already picked him up to go to the dentist -- it would not have been hard to keep him for the night. The whole situation is ridiculous (because bio-mom is making it that way), but we're making the best of it. That is why I am so thankful when he has good days -- it gives me hope that he will be ok in spite of the loopiness of his mom. >>My Sis and I usually go to at least one play during the holiday season.
