Hey there all!

My sister received in the mail today a postcard for an October walk to fight breast cancer. It's a 3-5 mile walk. I'm sure she'll be entering the walk again this year. But, I'm curious, do you think I should enter as well this year?

I think I will attempt it this year. I keep saying to myself every year that I will enter these walking events, but never do. Well, now that I'm trying to eat healthier and become healthier this year, I should train to do the walk as well.

Ok, then, I will begin to train for the walk! I'm not going to register yet, but will wait a couple of months to see how I'm doing first. Hmm, I wonder if I can raise money through my job...

Oh yeah, and one more thing: Does anyone know of a great sporting goods web site where I can purchase clothing for the event?

I've gone to, for example, the sports authority site looking for a pink long sleeved base layer top and there isn't any available (well, at least for my size anyway!). Since the event is in October and it's probably going to be chilly out then, I was thinking of just wearing a long sleeved base layer under a short sleeved t-shirt. If someone can offer me an alternative way to dress for the event, that'd be great too. I know it's just a walking event, but I would like to look "sporty" and not look like I just threw together anything, you know? haha :)

Yeah, I really should enter -- it's going for a great cause. And if I can train to do a 5 mile walk, it'll make it easy for me to train for a half marathon walk, which I really would like to accomplish as well!

Thank you for your advice!

Well, ladies, I've signed up tonight to do the walk in October.

There is no turning back now!

Oh, and many thanks for the sportswear sites. I think I saw some items that I'd like to purchase for the event!

You gals will support me in every step of the way, I hope? Warning: There'll probably be times where I'll be complaining or upset about something related to the training for the walk. I hope you'll be there to get me through those bad bouts! :)

Hey Kristie!

Welcome back from your vacation! Read you had a great time!

Thank you for remembering about this walking event.

I'm still training, but the last week or so has been hectic! For one thing, I've been on F/T status at work for about 2 weeks now. So, it's kind of hard to do some walking right after work because I'm so darn exhausted (more mentally than physically) after spending a whole day at the office! There's a gripe I want to share with you all too about work, but I'll do it in a separate post.

This weekend, though, I'm hoping to get some walking done in the morning. The last time I went walking, I clocked in 2.74 miles. So, I can accomplish right now, walking almost 3 miles. I'm almost there in reaching that 5 mile goal!
