When it comes to Valentines Day

Do you go all out and plan something special down to the last detail?
Or do you just be spontaneous?

We don't do anything romantic or special at my house. I made a litle box of candy for my hubby as a surprise, but he wound up eating out of it as early as the 12th. So much for surprises!
First I'd like to say "Happy Valentine's Day", to all you ladies.
I am 30. Yes, this is my first V-Day celebration (since I was a lil girl, and my Daddy would always do things for our family). I have a WONDERFUL MAN in my life, and this Thursday has me freaking out. I'm scared I'm going to get something wrong. SO, my idea is to give him a "home-made" gift. I plan to use calligraphy, writing 1 Corth. 13: 4-7(it's the passage about everything "love" is) in a large frame. I'll make it V-dayish by sprinkling a few rose petals within the frame. I'm super excited. But I hope it's not a lame gift idea.
(I gave details, because someone else may like the idea... Yep. I'm going straight to the thrift store for the frame ;-) Calligraphy pens are less than $2. Yay for me... Although he keeps on hinting towards purchasing "jewelry" to symbolize our relationship, but I don't know if I quite understand exactly what place he's coming from. I keep telling him I just want to dress and go have a nice meal. Any explanations, please.)
Wow Zcat! That sounds like a great gift! I bought one for my hubby years ago and he was so thrilled to get it.
I hope you come back and tell us where the special somewhere was and how it all went ..oh and if he liked the jacket :D
This will be my first Valentines Day in a committed relationship and I am so excited about it. He said we are going somewhere special so I've been out shopping. I want this to turn out so well.
I have bought him a very expensive leather jacket. Does that sound like a good gift? I really want to get him something nice.
BK (before kids), Valentine's Day was a total "us" celebration. Some were planned, some spontaneous, but all were romantic interludes! LOL
Now, it's a little more of a family holiday; heart shaped pancakes, the girls and I make cupcakes... little things like that. We tend to save our special "us" celebrations for other times; I'd rather sit over a romantic dinner out when the restaurants aren't crowded and rushed.
I have occasionally done something wacky to surprise the hubby. One time I rented a cabin for the weekend and his boss and co workers knew what I was up to. He drove a tow truck and I put in a fake call to where I was and when he got there he was sure surprised.
Normally I wait for the %50 off sales the next day on candies and such....love it!
I must be boring, I don't plan anything special at all for Valentine's Day, the day itself doesn't hold a lot of meaning to me. I'd rather plan something special for a date with my husband that has meaning to both of us.
