DS8 goes for karate lessons but he is not physically strong and gets 'beaten" by even the smallest kid in the class in kickboxing. Fortunately k.boxing lasts only a few seconds and the instructors are great. However, last week when I saw DS8 getting hit, I ran to the bathroom and cried. Today I went to talk to the instructor about all this, I cried again!! The instructor got alarmed but I managed to blurt out why I was sobbing and I managed to calm down. How can I control these crying fits?

It used to take a LOT to get me to cry, but I know what you mean. I don't cry a lot now, but I have noticed that I'll start crying over random, silly (to me) stuff. I cried a little bit when DD rode her bike for the first time this summer. I cried at DS's Christmas show last year. Baby pics of my kids make me tear up.

Anyway, I don't have any suggestions to stop crying. I'd love some myself! You're definitely not alone, though.

Silly things make me tear up too, so you are definitely not alone. My kids love to tease me when I'm reading to them and start sniffling. (They also know that's a sign of a really good book ;-)

I cry a lot even if there is no reason to - watching the news, movies, children, books, paretn teacher conference, sad things, happy things and non-things! I don't burst into tears but the tears just flow down my face and if I try to stop, my nose runs! If I go to a funeral it looks as if I'm distraught at the death even if I hardly know the person - that's embarrassing. I went to a violin weekend with DD and cried at half the sesions for absolutely no reason. I cry every time I set foot in a church or if someone mentions religion. I cry when people are grateful and say nice things about others but often I don't know why I'm crying, it is something physical not mental. I cry at work meetings now and again which again is embarrassing. If something was really sad and affected me badly I probably would not cry, it's things that are sentimental rather than serious.

Interesting what Karen says about medication. I once spoke to a hypno therapist in passing about it and she said try and take yourself out of the situation. Doesn't work LOL, I just have to have a big supply of hankies!

There is a list of songs that will always make me cry, no matter where I am or what I'm doing. They just stab me in the heart! Seriously, I could be jumping up and down in a bouncy house full of hundred dollar bills and bubbles, and if they played "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman" by Aretha Franklin, I'd weep. That song makes me think about how much I love my children.

No kidding, I'm tearing up right now, just thinking about it!

99% of the time, I cry when I'm overcome with how much I love someone.

Other stuff, I'm an ice queen. ;)

Laughing I don't have much to say. Laughing

Thank you everyone. I am glad I am not the only one but still I cringe when I look back at crying in front of the karate instructor.

FYI, I can't watch Hallmark commericals or sad shows on tv because I start bawling. National atum. can set me off {or my high school fight song} the last day of school, I'm crying like crazy as I'm dropping kids off.

Chimi, there is still a guitar teacher that I would be mortified to run into again.
