I may be gone for a bit

Hurricane Irene is gaining strength and is headed to the US. As of right now chances are good that it could reach landfall in SC by the weekend. If that's the case, then we'll have to evacuate. I'm going to call work on Tuesday and ask if we do have to evacuate if I could drop my cats over there to keep them safe. DH and I will travel to my mother's house, which is about 90 minutes away. My cats would be safer at work than they would be traveling in our truck. I won't have Internet access at my mother's house, so if I go silent for a bit, that's where I'll be.

Hi! I'm in SC, too, and WIS News is tracking it to hit the northern part of NC right now. I think we (in our state) will be ok.

Blessed Be.

So far so good. Now projections are that Irene will hit NC, probably around the Outer Banks. DH and I picked up some more cat carriers. I called work and was told that if the hurricane reaches us that the clinic will have to evacuate the patients to our sister clinic in North Charleston. So if we do have to evacuate DH is going to drive to my mother's house and pick up her car, then drive back home, pick up me and the cats and then drive us back to my mother's,

We got through the hurricane all right. We did get a lot of rain and wind, but it didn't make landfall in SC. It did a lot of erosion at the beaches, though. And since we get a lot of patients from the beach areas and because people had evacuated from there, work was really slow this weekend. I didn't go in on Saturday and on Sunday I went in at noon instead of 10am.

Hi Willow, how did you cope with the hurricane?

Hi Elizabeth!

Not much happened where I live - just a little blustery, but nothing out of the normal. Thanks for asking!
