Why do you think bad things happen? When you get slapped a hard lesson is it because your deities or the universe is testing you, something that you need to learn? Is it a karmic lesson that you brought onto yourself? Is it a test of faith or just bad luck or just because stuff happens?

I think it can be any of those things, or none. The important thing, IMO, is how I react and what I choose to do about whatever it may be. I believe there are always choices, and what choices we make to deal with, or work with, or adapt to or flow with, what comes into our lives, helps us define who we are as Spirit.

I see it as you do, Ginger. Stuff happens. I've never been one to believe that everything happens for a reason. I believe in coincidences, accidents and things just happening just because they do. While I can learn from these incidences and occurences, I don't believe they were set there in place by the universe or my deities in order to teach me a lesson.

I guess I think it is "Stuff happens" although sometimes one may bring bad stuff on themselves by being careless, unthinking, greedy, etc., even if none of these behaviors are intentional or even conscious. So it is possible that this is a part of a greater "karmic lesson" being visited upon one...

I think, or at least hope, that one can always learn from bad things.

I think it can be any of those things and when I have alot of things falling on my head at the same time, I feel it's important to sort it all out because there is certainly an important lesson to be learned, even if it's just a case of "@#&* happens".

There's really not just one answer for this question. It could be that it's karma for something we did in this life or a past life. It could be because there's unfinished business from this life or a past life, and the cycle keeps repeating itself until we address the issues. Often, we're in a bad place at a very bad time.

I have never believed that the High Powers I believe in test me. Why would they need to test me as one would think that they know me better than I do, and long before I began to know myself? I do believe that there are difficult paths that I sometimes have to take in order to get from point A in my life to point B, and that the experiences I gain will serve me well when I get to point B. Many times, the message that I've received when I am going through a difficult period and having a hard time is, "Trust and have faith" - somehow if the Higher Powers were testing me, I don't think they'd be telling me to trust and have faith that they are with me in the journey and all will be right in the end?

I think bad things happen because if only good stuff happened no one would appreciate it.

Why do you think bad things happen? I think that bad things happen for any number of reasons like bad decisions, mistakes, fate, etc.

When you get slapped a hard lesson is it because your deities or the universe is testing you, something that you need to learn? I don't think that the lessons are sent to me by a deity. I believe that if I get "slapped a hard lesson" it is because I made a mistake and am facing the consequences of that mistake. I believe that the deities are there to guide me not to pass judgment upon me and then dole out test or trials to punish/instruct me.

I don't believe that bad things happen because of my deity.
