Your View of a Higher Power

What are your views on a higher power? Do you believe that someone/something is governing the universe, the planet, your life, etc? Is this a god. goddess or multiples of deities? Do you have a personal relationship with it/them, in the sense that you can call upon it/them by name and offer prayers?

I believe in the ultimate Goddess and God. IOW, all the other names that come through the various religions that we know about, down through the centuries, reflect Their different Faces. They are all things to us. Warrior. Nurturer. Protector of Nature. The Earth. Magic. Etc. ;)) But, I call Them simply, "Goddess and God," or "Lady and Lord." They are the Supreme Ultimate representation of the power of the Universe, to me. I recognize the echo and smaller version of that power within myself, as I believe all creatures are endowed with that power, whether recognized or not. It is the Life Force within us.

I stand before my altar in the living room daily, and call upon Them as well as the Guardians of the Four Directions, the Elements and my Totems that came to me, to represent the Four Directions. I ask for protections, healings, guidance, whatever it is that I need. And I have faith that, if I do *my* part in the "equation" of power, with Magick as a Witch, as well as "mundane" work and effort in this physical realm, that these needs will be met. And they have been. It is up to me, however, to dig deep and use the Power I was born with, and the hard work, the integrity, learn how to harness the power within, do the study and learning necessary to connect with the guidance and intuition the Goddess and God, my Totems, the Elements offer me. And accept Their assistance, guidance and help. I see it as a teamwork effort, however. They will help me, but I have to put forth the effort, seek Connection, Believe, and Act on my beliefs. And put out the Energy and Focus.

I also believe in Karma and Reincarnation. These are Tools the Lady and Lord give us, in my beliefs, in order for us to evolve as Spirit. We come to this physical realm in order to do the work of awakening, evolving, learning so that we can become fully Spirit as part of the vast power of the Universe.

I "label" myself "Eclectic Wiccan" but I am a summation of many spiritual experiences and study over my lifetime so far, and my previous lifetimes. I use tools from a variety of spiritual sources to connect and stay connected with the Lady and Lord. To stay "conscious" in this realm, to learn to blend and balance body, mind & spirit within me. To remember who I truly am and why I am here. :)

Thank you for your note, here, Shadow Fox. :) I wish you well on your journey toward health (I read of your tough challenges in your Profile). I just wanted to also note that much of my journey is not just physical. It is mental and spiritual. This journey and my spiritual practice I can do anywhere. Sitting here at the computer. :P Lying in bed just before sleep or upon awakening. Just sitting on the couch. Just lighting a candle and some incense. And sitting quietly, opening my heart & spirit to the Lady and Lord's guidance. Creating sacred space for myself is often simply a shift in my mental focus, without anything else more "fancy" than that. Just a slow deep breath, and I am "there." :P When animals cross my path (like the soaring hawk yesterday) that I may see in the backyard or on a walk, to look up Totem information. In mid March I had open heart surgery, a triple bypass and dead heart muscle removed. Came as a total shock to me, discovered that I had problems through an EKG. I had to heal and build back up to walk with my Mika dog, but did some t'ai chi in my head in my hospital bed, then standing up by the bed, and then coming home, as I could do so. From my hospital bed I could see 4 redwood trees at the edge of a hospital parking lot. They became my Teachers while I was in the hospital, Sentinels that taught me to draw strength from the Earth within me, to aid in my regaining my strength and to heal. The Lady & Lord always take care of me! ;) Healing through mental focus and visualization helped, too. So, take good heart! Being spiritual starts just within your heart, mind and spirit. ;)) Again, best wishes and prayers for your journey...

I believe that the Universe itself is the 'higher power'.
