I'll be very thankfully to see the sun returning with some warmth with it ;)
Sounds great everyone!
My Partner who is Christian (though not extreme) and had young children, is very into Christmas (though not in a religiou sense at all), so we celebrate that, but I always try to mark Yule, with burning a Yule Log and lighting bayberry candles.
Mostly I just like to reflect on the ending of the year and the starting of the new.
Blessed Yule to ALL!
That's great, Mary! It's funny (in a way) on how ignorant people are about the Christmas traditions and where they originated. I am getting my tree tomorrow and, hopefully, decorating it, too. But I am not hanging
Thank you, Gypsy! Other than my children who live here, all of my family members reside in other states, so it's not like I have to deal with them in person. But I finished wrapping and boxing presents tonight, and will take the boxes to the post office on Monday. Like you, I did not want to get started on decorating too soon. It was either this Saturday or next, so I chose this one (which will be tomorrow). Then next week my son wants to go to the zoo, as they have it all lit up with lights and other decorations.
We will be celebrating our first Yule this year.
This year is the first time I have decided to fully embrace what I love and not be afraid to express it. We will be making a Yule Log and burning it in the fireplace.
My husband, who is Buddhist, thinks this is a great idea. I can't wait to tell people how we will be celebrating. Especially when I get those who say "So you aren't getting a tree or presents or anything??". My response I plan on will go something like "Well actually we are getting a tree and giving presents and have you ever heard of how much the Catholic religion has taken from Pagan ways??". Should be fun - LOL
