Need some objective advice!

Okay, so there's this guy that I had a class with last semester. We started talking everyday after class and we would meet in the library to study before school. We were both clearly attracted to one another and I know that there was something between us. The day of finals he asked me if I was coming back there next semester and told me that we would run into each other on campus and to have a good break. Well, after Christmas break, I finally saw him. He walked into the computer lab my class was in and we smiled at each other(and at the time it seemed like a genuine smile)

Just because he was in the military doesn't mean he must have seen you in the hallway. I'm sure the military taught him to be observant when needed but he's not exactly in a war zone right now, his observational skills won't be on high alert. Sure, maybe it's become instinctual for him, something he can't switch off... but you don't know that for sure. You can't possibly know for a fact that he did see you in the hallway unless he looked right at you.

So yes, I would talk to him the next time you see him - just say hello as normal... if he gives you the cold shoulder, then you know something is wrong. In which case, yes, I think it's okay to ask him what's up. Just don't be aggressive or accusatory.
