Stupid Impulses

Hi all.

I'm sorta new to this board, and this new board too :) Yeah it's taking some getting use to, but it's kinda neat. I just had a question for everyone. Do you ever get stupid impulses? I usually don't get them too often, mostly when I'm confused, which also doesn't happen too often. Like right now I'm so tempted to contact my ex whom I broke up with recently. Mostly due to lack of communication and trust. I know in my head that going back would just end bad, but how do you stop the stupid impulses in your heart to contact them again? Should I go outside and yell for a while? Go hit on the cute boy in the office? I almost dialed his number last night to tell him I made a mistake. Damn these impulses! Any insights on solutions?

That's a good analogy carolinagirl! ha ha Great way to look at it. I know the impulse will go away with time, its just so hard to go cold turkey. I just feel like doing something embarassing and wild! Yeah that office boy thing might be where I'm headed ;)

Go for it! No time like the present!!! And to continue the analogy... you're going grocery shopping: "Attention customers blue light special in the hot, office boy section"!!! Silly me... is it 5:00 yet???? :)

Everytime I go past a fire alarm I am tempted to pull it - does that count? My freshman year in college, the fire alarm was right outside my door. It sucked. I've always managed to restrain myself, though.

Any chance you can block your phone from getting through his number? I would say delete his number from your phone but you have it memorized so that doesn't work..

Thanks everyone for the wonderful advice. Yeah actually it gets better everyday, the need to do something stupid gets less and less with time. Ahh I just wish that mourning period were over so I can jump back into the dating pool and fall in love. You gals know what I'm talking about :) *sigh* I just miss him. Ah well, as they say 'tis better to have loved and loss than to not have loved at all.

Peace everyone :)

How about starting a journal? It might help you understand why you want to contact him. Just a thought!

When I first read your post, you said something about hitting on the cute guy in the office. For some reason, my brain thought hitting as in beating. But, that might work too!!

Hang in there! It does get better and we've all been there!
