Am I first? happy midsummer everyone (m)
1) What book are you reading currently? "Hotel Honululu" by Paul Theroux, but I'm barely into it so can't tell you whether it's good or not. So far it seems more like a collection of episodes rather than a novel. Fine by me, that's what I try to get away with.
2) Summer has arrived. Do you have any trips planned? Only imaginary ones.
3) Would you be more upset over the stock market crash or your child’s poor report card? After 12 years of usually terrible report cards, maybe I'm now freed up to move on to worrying about the bigger things.
4) Do you have any unusual food fetishes? Well, when I eat M&M's I do not eat two of the same color consecutively. I always eat apples the same way (around the equator, then top, then bottom). I have a special ice cream bowl and I always use a small spoon... this is pretty boring, isn't it?
5) Have you entered any writing contests or submitted any short stories lately? I entered a short story into the Writers Digest competition because I could do the whole thing online and it was only $10 down the drain. I've entered my novel into two contests sponsored by chapters of Romance Writers of America, and altho the prizes offered are minimal or non-existent you get written feedback, and final round editors (should you make it that far) are usually editors from major houses. So it's worth it, I hope.
It may feel like we're halfway through (m)
but according to the calendar today is the first day of summer!!!

TGIF...
1) What book are you reading currently?
The Orange Fish by Carol Shields. After that I've got Mothers and Daughters by Sheila Munro.
2) Summer has arrived. Do you have any trips planned?
Nope. Just came back from a weekend in CA.
3) Would you be more upset over the stock market crash or your child’s poor report card?
Neither, I would hope.
4) Do you have any unusual food fetishes?
I tend to eat food serially. I don't like to mix up my tongue. Also, unless I'm really thirsty or the food is spicy, I don't drink until I'm finished eating.
5) Have you entered any writing contests or submitted any short stories lately?
Writer's Digest 2002 competition was the most recent one.
Have a good weekend everyone!

1) What book are you reading currently?
I’m reading Howdunit: How Crimes Are Committed and Solved by John Boertlein. It’s a great reference book and quite interesting.
2) Summer has arrived. Do you have any trips planned?
Next month, I’m going to Iowa on business but will do a day or two of vacationing too. I’m really excited since this will be my first visit to this part of the country.
3) Would you be more upset over the stock market crash or your child’s poor report card?
The stock market crash since I have no kids.
4) Do you have any unusual food fetishes?
I like to sprinkle my watermelon with salt. It’s something about that sweet-salty taste that’s delicious.
5) Have you entered any writing contests or submitted any short stories lately?
Nothing lately, but I’m still waiting for the results of Glimmer Train’s latest contest. Each time I check the status of the story I submitted, it says, “in process,” but the winners are to be announced July 1st so I don’t have much longer to wait.
Best of luck in the contest, eyewrite!!! (nt)
Crossing my fingers for your Glimmer Train results! nt
I'm still working on the fact that it's JUNE already!!(m)
1) What book are you reading currently?
Just finished HP& the Goblet of Fire, Michael J. Fox's Lucky Man, Rosie's Find Me, and a neurobiological based book called Why God Won't Go Away. (Guess what! We're wired for God stuff.)
2) Summer has arrived. Do you have any trips planned?
Only to the grocery store--LOL.
3) Would you be more upset over the stock market crash or your child’s poor report card?
Neither, my son is long out of school, and I'm too poor to worry about the stockmarket.
4) Do you have any unusual food fetishes?
Well, when I eat MY m&ms, I pick out the same number of each color and eat a full set of colors before going on to the next set, etc., etc. (I'm sure it makes them taste better, or maybe I was told not to play with my food once too often as a child?)
5) Have you entered any writing contests or submitted any short stories lately?
Have a couple out in submission. (And need to check on them too. Thanks for reminding me.)

So what's your favorite M&M color??? (nt)
Hi all. Just dropped in for a moment. (m)
1) What book are you reading currently? Book called Born to Win. For some reason this summer I have really gotten in to Dick Francis books as well.
2) Summer has arrived. Do you have any trips planned?
Oh, how I wish.
3) Would you be more upset over the stock market crash or your child’s poor report card?
No kids and no money, would not upset me one way or the other.
4) Do you have any unusual food fetishes?
Like Ozarker, I do strange things to my M&Ms. I divide them into color and then eat them until I have the same number of all colors. Then I eat one from each color until they are gone. On other food, I also save the good stuff for last so that I have that flavor in my mouth when I am done.
5) Have you entered any writing contests or submitted any short stories lately?
No. :(
Hi, Dvspec. So nice to see you!!! (nt)
