Someone Reassure me...

I posted down under Phase 1 but no one answered my post...I'm really concerned. I started my period today...and til now I never paid attention to the weight during and not during my period. I've drank tons of water today...hoping that would help. But I've gained back two pounds and there is no way I've changed anything to cause that. If someone has ever experienced the same thing...please let me know to make me feel like it's not just me. Thanks in advance.

I now that many women retain water around time of period. Not much but I hope that helps.

Stick with it Amy! I've heard a lot of people on this diet sometimes gain weight before they lose. Especially around that time of the month. Your body is just going through so many things! Wait to weigh yourself a week or so after your period! I'm sure your bound to see some change!

Amy-

Don't worry. I had my period during the second week of phase 1 and I also saw a jump of a couple pounds. I went back down to where I had been by the end of it. I just finished Phase 1 yesterday and am down 8 pounds total (and I don't have alot to lose-only about 15-20 lbs). I weigh myself everyday and have found that my weight tends to flucuate 1-2 pounds--that is probably why they tell you not to do it daily. I tend to stabilize for a few days and then drop one or two. I wouldn't stress about your weight during your period. Just stick to the program. That way you know that any fluctuation on the scale probably isn't "real" weight. Hang in there.

Thank you for everyone's responses...i seriously felt like I was the only one that had to deal with this...I'm being stupid. :)

Michelle...I'm definitely like you, 2nd week with the lovely visitor of the month and I've weighed myself everyday. We talked about Ketosis I think...and you reassured me then too. I think we both have the same goal weights and everything. :) Today is Day 7 for me, I won't weigh myself until the end of next week! What are you adding first for Phase 2? I think that's going to be my hardest thing to figure out when I get there...because there is so much I want to add...but afraid to add too quickly...or anything having to do with bread and pasta.

Any advice on what you felt like made you not loose on Phase 1...certain foods...anything let me know. Just trying to make sure I'm doing everything right.

Thanks!

Amy-

I am kind of nervous about jumping right into Phase 2 so I haven't added much at all. I still haven't had fruit. Part of it is that I couldn't really think of anything I was dying to add back. I had Kashi cereal for breakfast today (a mix of Go Lean and Go Lean Crunch-- pretty high in carbs but 9 gr. of fiber in 3/4 cup). If I look at another egg I might puke!

Even though I know I shouldn't weigh in everyday, I can't help it. The scale just stares at me in the bathroom! :) Of course I only weigh in after peeing, totally naked, before eating or drinking anything and thinking thin thoughts!

You are halfway there--the hardest part is over! Feel free to keep in touch-its nice to talk to someone with the same goals! Good luck!

Amy-

Just me again! I am laughing because I just read your profile and we are definately very alike. We both live in Ohio, watch all the same shows and channels (I am addicted to TLC and Discovery-- Monster House is my new favorite on Disc), I have read every James Patterson book, love DMB, read all Harry Potters, the works. How funny.

That's awesome...I just looked at yours too...I think that is so cool that two people can come together through this and have so many similarities. I haven't read the newest of Patterson, The Lake House...my mom gave it to her friend before me! :( But looking forward to my postcard in the mail from the Library saying it's my turn to read. :)

I LOVE harry Potter...I got my dad(Who is the last person to ever like HP) watched both movies about 4 times! He now loves the movies and can't wait for #3 to come out.

I've been to too many DMB shows to count...well...actually I think I'm at 35...but this is over 5 years mind you. :) Still is a lot to some people...I admit it I was a roadie for a while. Can't wait for Dave's new Solo Album to come out next week.

I can't tell you how cool it is to discover someone on here that has the same likes on here...gives me all the more reason to stick around and make it through.

My only problem with the diet...well not even with the diet...but my parents are both Atkins dieters...so I swear everytime I sit down to eat, I worry about them thinking that it's off limits, but it's not the same diet! It frustrating, but something I truly shouldn't be worried about. I just want to look like I looked a couple of years ago...and it'll take 15 pounds.

Amy,

No Worries!! This happens to me every month, diet or not! I'm on SBD 6 wks. Last month I got my period I gained 3 lbs that week. Since I know this is a common occurence for me I didn't panic. At the end of my period I lost the 3 lbs plus 2 more! Hang on, don't be discouraged! Keep on doing what your doing and you will succeed! Good Luck!

Amy- Somehow, I just managed to delete my entire message just before sending it (it was brilliant of course!). Don't worry about your parents thinking you are eating anything off limits. I doubt they even are! Just explain that you are trying to eat/be healthy and that SBD is similar in some ways to Atkins and differs a bit in other. Are they currently doing Atkins or did they in the past?

I can't remember if I read Beach House yet... I have terrible recall--I read WAY too many books. I'll have to look it up to see what its about. That usually jogs my memory. Sometimes not though--I have been halfway through a book before I realize that I have already read it!! Did you read "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas"? Very different from his usual books but I loved it. Very moving. Of course, I cried my eyes out (I am such a sucker).

Did you weigh yourself today? Of course, I did. I have been at the same weight since I started P2 on Monday. I guess that is okay though... at least I know that the Kashi cereal I have been eating on P2 isn't making me gain. When are you done with your period? I think you will see a change for the better after that!

I have decided that I am going to introduce things the same way you start a baby on babyfood... try one thing at a time for a few days at a time to see what happens. That way, if I gain, I can more easily figure out what probably caused it. We'll see how it works.

Just curious, how old are you? You said that you still live at home and have a brother in college. I'm just being nosy (goes right along with having to weigh myself everyday)!!

Good luck! Keep in touch!

Michelle- Both of my parents are still currently on Atkins...except they pretty much stayed with induction...they never really added carbs like you're supposed to...because they didn't mind staying on induction. I find it to be much more unhealthy...only because they eat so much more fat. But who am I to judge, I just started a week ago, and they've been going since March! They both have lost 25 pounds though...I just think it's better to bring back carbs into your eating, just the good ones.

I've read the Beach House, excellent book, but his newest one is called Lake House...not sure it's come out in paper back, I'm sure it hasn't since I'm still on a waiting list at the library. I LOVED "Suzanne's Diary For Nicolas" Read it in one night, and balled my eyes out too.

I did weigh myself, in the morning after peeing, and weighed a pound less than I did last time I weighed myself before my period so that's awesome. I'll be glad when my periods over...I don't like things messing with my progress...I like to see it everyday. :)

That's a good way to introduce foods...of course I'm not sure what to introduce first, I'm thinking a little fruit here and there to see how I'll do.

I'm 23, I'm living at home to save money, and get out of debt from College. I graduated last year, with a Psychology degree, but no hope of any job in site. The economy is horrible. So I work at J. Crew, making enough money to get by, but not saving any. Hunting for a job...I'll find one eventually! But my parents are very cool, regardless of their Atkins diet...and they don't want me to move out...I'm the only girl and the oldest. (empty nest maybe??) :) My middle brother is at OU. He's in his second year, then I have another brother that is still in his senior year of HS. I figured I might as well work on my figure while living at home while the food is free. :)

Talk to you soon,

Amy
