Trouble finding Lite Laughing Cow...

I have been to 4 different grocery stores and can only find the full-fat Laughing Cow cheese. They either don't carry the lite version, or say the distributer can't get it. I have been forced to use the full-fat version with my celery for a snack. Does anyone else have problems finding the lite version? Do you think it's ok to use the regular kind on SBD?

Thanks for your feedback!

Suzy,

I wouldn't even buy the laughing cow if it is that much of a hassle... it's not pertinent that you have lite laughing cow with celery, it’s just a suggestion. The full fat laughing cow isn't very good for you; check the label against another reduced fat cheese, big difference!

Why not put a tablespoon of natural peanut butter on celery? Or another cheese? Or another snack all together...

Thank you Jamah. I will just have to be more creative with my snacks. I was just curious if others also found it hard to find. Do we need to use only natural peanut butter, or will any type do?

Hugs,

There have been a lot of women having a hard time finding it, you're not alone :)

Irene said... they call it laughing cow because the cows are laughing at how much we pay for it! TRUE! LOL

Most peanut butter has added sugars, look at the nutrients and be sure it has less than 2g of sugar per serving. :)

I love the natural peanut butter, I pour the oil off the top before I use it, although you don't have to.

I am glad I'm not the only one. ;-) I like the natural PB too. The only problem is spreading it is more difficult. I checked the regular (Skippy) PB in the cupboard and it has 3g sugar in a serving of 2 Tbsp. Since I would only use the 1 tsp recommended for Phase 1, would that be ok?

I hope you have a great night. Talk to you soon!

I LOVE laughing Cow cheese-slight addiction here-LOL! I love it plain, on celery, other veggies, (use to eat it on crackers), etc. The only place I can find it here in Illinois is Meijer (a large grocery chain based in Michigan)-this store is pronounced "Meyer" but is not the same as Fred Meyer Store which I have heard people discuss on this board. Anyway, they carry both the regular and lite versions. I have looked plenty of other places, such as Kroger, County Market, IGA, etc but Meijer is the only place I can find it. Could you find an address/phone number/website on the reg. fat box and contact the company for a list of stores in your area that stocks the lite version. If you can't find it, then maybe try another lowfat creamy cheese, or lowfat cream Philly cheese. As far as the Peanut butter, I use the Natural type. Mine actually is Kroger brand right now with the only ingredients being roasted peanuts, and salt. It has 2 gram sugar per 2 TBSP. I do pour off some of the excess oil on top just because it grosses me out. Good Luck!!

Thank you so much! I remember Meijer (I used to live in Lansing, Michigan). Unfortunately, we don't have them here in Omaha. I have a Kroger here, where they claim they will order the lite version, but I have yet to see it. Thanks for the suggestion to maybe try lite Philadelphia cream cheese. I will stick to the natural peanut butter since it is less sugar and no additives. Great advice!

Hope you're having a good Thursday. It's day 4 for me on Phase I and I'm doing good so far. I am learning how to substitute meals/snacks.

Hugs,

Suzy

Thanks Maryann...unfortunately I don't have any of those stores here yet. I am sure it'll turn up hopefully at Kroger. When it does, I'll stockpile it. LOL! :-)
