Hi. I just started SBD, and I am on day 2. So far so good. The food is good, I am satisfied, and only mildly craving doritos and oreos!! I read the book, and found alot of inconsistencies between the information in the book and the recipes. Is anyone else on day 2 that would like to go thru the ups and downs with me??

Hi! I am also on Day 2. I was very hungry yesterday but today I had to struggle to get down a piece of turkey breast for lunch. The book suggests 1 teaspoon of Metamucil 15 minutes prior to eating. I think this is important to keep away the hunger pangs. There seem to be a few things in the book that are not consistent. I was about to make the "Orange Roughy in Scallion and Ginger Sauce" but then noticed it had 1/3 cup of sherry or vermouth. I guess the alcohol burns off in the cooking, but I would have thought that they would use a different liquid. Well, good luck to you and I would love to hear your progress. I am just taking the "Vegetable Quiche Cups" out of the oven. They smell good! We seem to also have the same goal weight. I am 5'4".

Cathy,

Thanks for your response. I am on day 3 today, and when I got on the scale I couldn't believe my eyes! I lost 7 lbs.!!! I am really motivated now. I am also 5'4" and 41 years old. I put on some weight only recently, so I am very excited to see it coming off. I am also looking forward to this new, healthier lifestyle. Are you exercising? I play tennis 1 -2 times per week, but that is about it. I started walking a few weeks ago, but have a hard time getting motivated/finding the time, etc. Hope all is well with you!!

Hi Karen & Cathy! I'm Karen M and I'm looking for a partner(s), too! Can I join in? I am one day ahead of you and so far it is going pretty good. I lost four pounds the first day and one the second and I didn't weight this morning. I'm feeling pretty svelte! I seem to be okay with breakfast, snacks and lunch, but I am struggling with dinner. Do you two cook the recipes in the book? They sound wonderful, but a bit fancier than I would normally cook. I have just been doing a lean piece of meat and lots of approved veggies, but I am afraid I will get bored with it soon. Do you know if chili or soup is approved?

Hi Karen & Karen,

I am only losing 1 pound a day. I have tried every diet under the sun. I never lose any weight. I have a very sluggish metabolism. I have exercised always. I usually walk 3 or 4 miles on a treadmill 3 times a week or swim about 20 laps. I try to do some weight training but usually too tired or busy. I have 3 kids. I have not been having trouble coming up with dinner ideas. I also keep it simple. 1st nite - grilled chicken breast w/ salad and grilled vegetables. Last nite - kids had breaded fish filets - I coated mine in dijon mustard and sprinkled 15 chopped pecans on top. Baked it 20 minutes. Tonight - kids had take-out chinese food - I ordered steamed chicken with vegetables (no sauce). But I am very hungry right now. I'm deciding between a sugar-free fudgesicle or a Dole sugar-free juice bar. Also, soup is great as long as you know what is in it. Chili is also fine if you don't use Pinto beans. But, black beans and kidney beans are okay. Keep me posted on your progress. Good night!

Hi Karen & Cathy:

I must have had a lot of water weight - my scale register 11 lbs. lighter this morning. I feel great about it, but I am also a little skeptical, and afraid it will suddenly come back. I am pretty satisfied with the food choices. My toughest time of day is between lunch and dinner, and the chees stick isn't doing it for me. Yesterday I had some extra nuts with the cheese. I guess that was okay. I am so sick of eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't even really like them. Any ideas on what I can have for breakfast that does not have an egg in it???

Hope all is well!

Congratulations! 11 pounds! Wow! This morning I weighed in at 134. That's a total of 4 pounds for me. As I mentioned before, it just doesn't come off me easily. I also get sick of eggs. Sometimes I heat up a piece of Canadian bacon and melt some low-fat cheese on top. Kind of like a grilled cheese sandwich without the bread. Or just roll-up some turkey breast. The vegetable quiche cups are pretty good (there is more vegetable than egg). How about cottage cheese. Afternoons are very hard. That's when I have a sweet treat instead of after dinner. A sugar-free fudgesicle usually does the trick. Cheese sticks don't have much staying power. Or try 1 teaspoon of peanut butter on a celery stick. Peanut butter makes you feel full. The weekend will be tough for me. We eat dinner out and the kids are around with all their friends (ordering pizza, eating snacks, ughh). I miss my glass of wine with dinner. Keep me posted.

Cathy,

Thanks for the breakfast ideas. I'll try one tomorrow. Yeah, I'm a little worried about the weekend too. My husband is following the diet too - but he is still drinking wine at night. He is losing weight, but I am trying to teach him about digestion and insulin, etc. because he didn't read the book. He doesn't care, he still wants wine with dinner, and figures that he will continue to lose because he is cutting back on all the other bad carbs. We'll see. Do you like fresh tuna? If you do, I have an amazing recipe.

Continued good luck,

Karen

Hi and welcome to SBD,

Onions are allowed in Phase 1. Although they are not listed on the vegetable list, they are an ingredient in almost every recipe. Good luck!
