Has anyone had sucess on the SBD?
| Thu, 10-02-2003 - 9:16pm |
I was thinking of starting the SBD and I was wondering if anyone who is on it has had sucess and if so what kind? Is this a diet that I want to try? There are so many out there and I want one that is working for other like me who need to lose weight.
Are you doing any exercises with the diet to have the sucess you have had? Please let me know.
Thanks

Welcome, Tina!
For some ideas of others' successes, please refer to the Share Your Success section below. Also, many are doing exercise on this program, and it is always a good, physically and emotionally healthy idea. But it is not an integral part of the weight loss for this plan.
A lot of factors weigh into individual success, so don't be discouraged if you begin the plan and have different results than others.
Best wishes!

I was skeptical! I never really had to diet before, but recently gained more weight than I was comfortable with. All the diets I have heard about either sounded like quick fixes, or were totally unreasonable to follow. I read the SBD book, and confirmed what I suspected: bad carbs - salty junk food and sweet snacks - were my enemies. I am on Day 5 and can't believe that I have followed a diet for 5 days. Plus, I am down 11 pounds!! What Dr. A says in the book is true: after a day or two you really don't miss the bad carbs, or have cravings. I am completely satisfied with the meals (and I am eating things I never really was thrilled with before). There are a few things I miss, but I realize that I can start adding back those things eventuallt. I really think I can make this a new, healthier lifestyle for myself. Try it.....I believe you will like it!!

I'm now within 3 pounds of my pregnancy weight and it's only been 6 months since the birth of my son. Now, I tried other ways to get the weight off but it wasn't until the beginning of August that I started making the transition to eating this way. I've lost about 13.5 pounds and can fit into my 10's again (I went from a tight 14 to a loose 10)
I do exercise A LOT so I know that helped. In fact, I started adding carbs after 4 days because I would rather sacrifice diet than exercise. It's a release to me and I find it easier to lose weight when I exercise at a higher intensity. Each person does it their own way.
Good Luck!!!

I think you have to define what success on this program would be for you. Is is losing 20 lb, 60 lb, or over 150 lb? Also, I think you need to recognize there's no real timetable to achieve you definition of success. The only part of it with a timetable is Phase I.
I've lost more weight in a healthier fashion so far on SBD than I ever have on any other program; but I'm defining success by how I do reentering Phase II - will I make the smarter choices, will I cave in to poor choices too often, and will I be willing to go back to Phase I if the need occurs? I think I'll be ok, but time will tell.
Anyway, I'm very happy being on the Beach, and looking forward to the challenges ahead on Phase II.
If you decide to give it a try, good luck - you've got nothing to lose but a few pounds and everything to gain with regard to your health.

177/168.5/143 or so....
I lost 9 pounds in two weeks of phase 1, and another 6 so far in three weeks of phase 2. I'm far off from my goal of losing 83 pounds total, but for the first time in my life I can envision me getting there.
I haven't tried a lot of other diets... only Weight Watchers. I absolutely hated it and never stayed on it for longer than a month, with a lot less weight lost than I lost in the same amount of time on SB. To me, SB is "doable". I don't have to calculate and count points, and I don't kid myself into thinking I will eat just a half cup of pasta, like I tried to do on weight watchers. If I had the self-control to eat such a small amount of pasta, as opposed to a whole plate full, I wouldn't need SB, WW, or any other diet plan to begin with.
My cravings are gone. For example, tonight DH and I went out to eat with DB and SIL. He had fish and chips, and she had pasta and garlic bread. I had no desire to eat any of that. I still can't believe it. When I came to this board investigating SB, I was so skeptical of all the people who said "I miss bread and pasta, but I don't crave it". I thought, yeah but I'm sure *I'll* crave it. I don't.
Take care, welcome to the board, and good luck with finding a plan. I would recommend this plan to anyone, especially if they have a lot of belly fat.
