I think a lot of people initially ask that question. I haven't researched the Atkins diet too much. But here is the differences that I believe that exist. First off, the SBD has 3 seperate phases. Phase one is the strictest. In this phase, your only to eat low fat meats, cheeses, and the list goes on. The major difference there is that you can only have the lowfat meats mainly. No bacon, no fried chicken...nothing cooked in grease. You can have all you want, but it is recommended to be low fat. Thats how it differs from the atkins. Atkins I believe lets you have any meat that you want. But it's similar in the way that your not permitted any real carbs. But this is to stop the cravings that you have for them. This phase is to only be the first 2 weeks of the diet and most are said to lose in between 8-13 lbs. But those that wish more rapid weight loss, stay on it longer. Phase 2 you add back in the good carbs. You can have wheat bread, skim/1% milk, yogurt, wheat pasta, among other things. You lose generally about 2 to 3 lb s in this phase. Phase 3 your basically allowed whatever you want, this phase is assuming your eating habits have changed for the better. You can have that sundae you want, but you eat the bad things in moderation. You no longer lose weight in P3, but you steady it. Hope this helps! :)
