What's the diff b'tween SBD and ATKINS

I have been Atkins since June and I just picked up the SBD book this weekend. I have not been strict at all on Atkins and have still managed to lose 30 lbs in 4 months. I am finding that I fear the introduction of bread and chocolate that SBD allows for in Phase 3 because I may get heavy and big again. With my personalized version of Atkins I do eat bread or pasta once a week and I will have a scoop of B&J's "One Sweet Whirled" on occasion and still see the pounds melting away. Can anyone please clarify the major differences with SBD and Atkins? Thanks

I think the minute I add any pasta, bread, cereals, and heavy foods back into my diet, I will gain weight. SO I stay at 20 grams a day. I think I am on Atkins, not SBD....LOL!
What does the book say about Phase ONE...?
Mara :-)
I added oatmeal and skim milk last week, and my weight hasn't gone up at all. Clothes are still fitting quite nice. YIPPIE! Hey, eat however you like to, and if it is working for you, just call it the MARACOON WOE. lol. Mine is RIA WOE modeled after SBD. take care!
Just my two cents. I have done both Atkins and SBD. The major difference is in the fat. Atkins promotes full fat dairy products (heavy cream, cream cheese, full fat cheese, as well as bacon and all cuts of meat). SBD only allows dairy products in Phase 2 and they must be low-fat only. The suggestions for meat on South Beach are the less fatty cuts. (Ex. filet mignon vs. rib steak - or chicken breasts instead of thighs - Turkey bacon instead of the real thing). I could never stay on Atkins for long because of all those high fat foods. I certainly feel much healthier eating leaner cuts of meat and low fat cheese. Hope this was helpful.
