General Confusion...

Hi there-
Is diet soda or Crystal Light allowed on this diet??? I found a beef jerky that is only 3 carb grams/serving and low fat... I am assuming it's ok for p1 but I don't see a reference in the book to it.
*** Am I right that SBD is basically, a lowfat Atkins with vegetables??? So the extra carbs/calories from the veggies substitute for the calories saved from eating low fat cheese/meat? Except that Atkins said you could drink spirits moderately (rum, vodka) with soda water because they are carbless. I am confused as to why wine, derived from fruit, would be allowed at anytime on the SBD.
I feel so vacant! Why can't I make this make sense???? I guess I just need to stick with it and see if it works. Thanks for any help you can give!!! :-) Amy

I'm sorry if I missed it in another post but do you have the book? Try www.prevention.com
there's some good info there too:)
This diet doesn't stress ketosis like Atkins. It was designed to help heart patients, and all of the other great things it does are a positive side effect. In dry wine, there is usually 0 residual sugar, so even though it is derived from fruit, the sugar is lost during the fermentation. I know sweet wines do have residual sugar, and I don't know if they are any different in their effects on the heart.
Anyone else out there have some wisdom to share?
