Lets get some info out there for the new comers about success. I've posted on here quite a bit in the past so I'm back.
Current Phase?
How long have you been on South Beach?
How long did you spend in each phase?
How much weight have you lost?
Did you lose inches first?
Did you exercise?
If so, what did you do?
A food you couldn't have been successful without?
***If anyone wants to add anything, add away. Lets get this thread as big or bigger than those nasty negative ones.

I agree with you about the peanuts as a great snack. I think the packages would probably also be extremely helpful for portion control, since we are supposed to watch the number of nuts consumed.
How long have you been on South Beach? ALMOST 6 WEEKS.
How long did you spend in each phase? I SPENT A LITTLE OVER 2 WEEKS ON PHASE ONE. TECHNICALLY I AM ON PHASE TWO, BUT I HAVEN'T ADDED BACK MUCH IN THE WAY OF CARBS.
How much weight have you lost? A TOTAL OF 12 LBS. I LOST 9 IN P1 AND 4 SO FAR IN P2. MY HUSBAND HAS LOST 25 LBS. DURING THIS SAME TIMEFRAME (BUT HAS NOT STRAYED FROM P1 EATING EXCEPT FOR AN OCCASIONAL BEER OF GLASS OF WINE - BAD BOY!)
Did you lose inches first? I WISH I MEASURED BEFORE STARTING! I MUST HAVE LOST INCHES THOUGH, BECAUSE SOME OF MY PANTS ARE VERY LOOSE!. MY HUSBANDS CLOTHES ARE LITERALLY FALLING OFF OF HIM
Did you exercise? I PLAY TENNIS 2X PER WEEK. THAT IS BASICALLY IT, THOUGH I AM PRETTY ACTIVE ALL DAY.
A food you couldn't have been successful without? ROASTED VEGGIES - ESPECIALLY THE EGGPLANT. OFTEN BY THEMSELVES AS A SIDE DISH, OR ADDED TO GROUND TURKEY AS A MEAL.
9 weeks
How long did you spend in each phase?
Phase I: 2 weeks - Phase 2: the rest
How much weight have you lost?
12 lbs.
Did you lose inches first?
Yes
Did you exercise?
Yes
If so, what did you do?
Walking/hiking and toning exercises.
A food you couldn't have been successful without?
Low fat cheese. Every time I have the urge to cheat, I reach for a small piece of low fat cheese.
How long have you been on South Beach? Since August 29th (8 weeks?)
How long did you spend in each phase? Two weeks in phase I. Four weeks in phase II (which i made phase II by adding my carbs thru red wine--ps, didnt work ;-) Then back to phase one and a half which is where i am now.
How much weight have you lost? 13 pounds. 7 in phase 1, 1 in phase 2 (my first stall), and 5 in phase 1.5 (currently in week one of my second stall period.)
Did you lose inches first? i have no idea which came first, and i didnt measure inches, but absolutely. my clothes are all too big. even the small stuff. i've dropped 2-3 sizes. (even a bra size--yay!) i was trying to wait until i hit goal to go to the tailor, but i cant wait anymore. my suit pants keep falling down!
Did you exercise? in phase 1, i tried some tennis, but it was too hard. i've been doing bikram and vinyasa yoga 2-4x per week, depending on my travel schedule. it's also changing my body shape, but i'm not sure whether it burns enough calories. so i've been doing long walks on the weekends.
A food you couldn't have been successful without? cottage cheese for breakfast (i was SO hating the eggs by day 3, i needed to do something.) and cashews for snacks. you can sneak them in meetings, on planes, wherever, and you don't need a refrigerator!
Friday's weigh-in (Day 10) down 5 total #s, (1 # wk 1, 4 #s wk 2).
Noticed pants loosening wk 2.
I exercise apx 10 hrs a wk: yoga, weight training, body sculpting, aerobics, eliptical machine.
I have been eating a lot of beans! snacking on hummus, adding black beans to my salads, substituting black beans in the hummus recipe, soy beans, green beans... and celery.
I love not feeling starved all the time and just snacking all day long, it feels great.
Good luck all! Janet :)
