Caroline,

I'm 24 and from the GA/FL area. I have been doing this for almost 2 months and have lost a grand total of 19 pounds (15 on SBD) so if you need advice, you can email me: runnermom79@yahoo.com

Wow runnermom,

That is great news that you have been so successful and you are in my age bracket. I was also very athletic, but I have since slowed down in my workouts. I used to do spinning twice a week and lifting/cardio 3 times a week. I have been really slacking lately, but I am starting to get back into the groove, just with less intensity. I ran the River Run in 2002, but I haven't been doing much running. I find that when I put on weight, the impact of the intense exercise really makes by back hurt. The Doctor receomended stretching exercises to help loosen up my stiff back muscles. I have started doing lower impact cardio and yoga and pilates classes. I am hoping by combining that with moderate weight lifting and South Beach diet I will get the results I am looking for. How often/intense do you work out? Do you still have much weight to lose? I have a long way to go. (35-40 pounds) Talk to you soon!

"I am always running late in the morning..."

Hi, Caroline - I'm a Phase II'er who also never gets out of the house as early as I need to. For breakfast during Phase I, how about making a big frittata on Sundays and slicing off a piece to nuke in the morning? Lots of veggies and low-fat mozzarella; chop up and add Canadian or turkey bacon, or cook that in the am. It'll save you some time, put your meal all in one place, and keep you from getting serious munchies mid-morning that your snack doesn't satisfy. I still do that for Phase II; I also cook a big batch of Irish oats ahead of time and portion them out to reheat in the microwave while I'm putting on my makeup (I've got that down to 2.5 minutes!), then toss in some nuts or chopped fruit to make it more interesting. If I'm really lazy, the frittata becomes lunch or dinner also.

HTH. Good luck - it's great living on the Beach!

You did the river run!? 2002 was my first year. I was 32 weeks pregnant this year so I just watched:( After having my son at the end of March, I waited until July to really try to lose the extra 16 pounds. I bought the FIRM system and did that for 1.5 months. I love it and lost 6 pounds. I decided to cut out any unnecessary carbs at the beginning of September and with the help of the cooler mornings, began running again. That's the key with me. I HAVE to run. It's the fastest and most effective way for me to lose weight. I'm training for the half marathon on thanksgiving day. I did it in 2001 but again, being pregnant last year kept me from doing it. So I run 3 times a week and cross train 2 with 2 days of weight training. It keep me busy:)

I tried spinning once and I didn't go back. It was a tough workout but I couldn't walk straight for 3 days!

I reached my prepregnancy weight goal and I'm going to shoot for 10 more. We'll see if I get it. The lowest I've gotten was 142 and that was training for the river run and it was after a heavy workout, no shoes, bathroom first, never reached it again sort of thing LOL.
