I'm still a newbie on the SB diet. I am on my first day so far so good. I was a little hungry this afternoon so I munched on some peanuts and a ff cheese stick. I am just a little worried about my sweet tooth in the future. Does anyone know if you can have the Atkins Endulge chocolate bars on this plan? They have 2 grams on net carbs. Any other advice for the sweet tooth?

I've had endulge bars the whole time I've been on this diet, which will be 5 weeks tomorrow...I still lost 9 pounds in Phase 1 and 3 in Phase 2. You just have to limit them. They stopped me from eating bad things, and I realize that they are processed, but I think in my point in life, it's the easiest thing for me, and works for me. I'm sure they may not work for some, so that's just my opinion.

Not to mention that I've literally had a TOM for 3 weeks now. I haven't stopped having breakthrough bleeding on the pill for the last 2.5 weeks! I think that's where my chocolate cravings are coming from. Anyways, I know you are only supposed to have 75 calories of sweets a day, but I still had my Endulge candies. I don't think one PB cup goes over per day, but you'll have to check.

Hi Amy,

I'm new to the board and currently on low carb (Protein Power) but thinking seriously about beginning the TSBD. So that said, you know I'm not an expert on the South Beach plan, but this has been my experience on my current plan...

I love the Endulge mint wafer bars & have gone down 2 sizes & lost 25 lbs in 3 mths, with 50ish lbs to go to hit my goal. If sweet calories (75) are important, I think that the Endulge bars (2 sticks @ 120 calories) wouldn't be a problem if you could eat just one, right? I'm not giving these little yummies up for nothin! I briefly read the book once but need to re-read when time permits. Good luck on your journey, you will feel sooo much better when the cravings subside! In fact my TOM is even easier to bear, no pms or cramps! So, I must be doing something right.

I have been on the plan for 5 weeks now and have lost 15 lbs. I eat the endulge bars (love those mint wafer ones :) ) if I am having a major craving. If I am having a tiny

craving then I have 1 hersheys sugar free chocolate mini bar or 1 reeses sugar free peanut butter cup.

I know that I do go over the 75 calories some days and that these are processed foods,

but if it keeps me from going to the candy machine and eating a giant snickers bar

I don't care :)

There are lots of things you can have to help your sweet tooth. The ricotta cream desserts are great - you can add some chocolate chips to them. You can have the Atkins bars - you can have sugar free jello - sugar cookies - sugar free candy ect. The thing is to NOT over indulge. A small treat to help curb the sweet tooth is "OK"! You may need to cut back on something else such as the cheese or nuts, but if you pretty much stick to the plan you will do just fine. You may not lose as quickly as you would like, but you will not totally be giving up on your sweets either. There is a great breakfast recipe called French Toast Sans The Toast which can be found in the recipe section of this board - it really is great! Also - do not count out the sugar free jello and once in phase 2 do not count out the sugar free pudding - the chocolate. and butterscotch really help the old sweet tooth. Just remember phase 1 is only for two weeks - you will be really surprised at what you can add back in during phase 2 that will help with your sweet tooth.

Hi Sandy and everyone,

I think you gave some really great advice. I feel the same, especially about phase I. I did indulge in SF chocolate (CarboRite brand), but I tried really hard to only have a tiny bit and not every day. I also kept repeating, like a mantra, the "it's just for two weeks", and that got me through lots of temptations without cheating.

Anyway, I've never tried the Atkins indulge chocolate, but if they are like CarboRite, which have from 0 to 2 "net" carbs, depending on the variety, they are unlikely to make you crave the bad stuff. It was a really strange experience to eat this chocolate, yet not want to devour every last bit of it in the house, and then move on to something else!! LOL. It's great!

Hugs,

Jill K.
