Hi All,
I just noticed this board a few days ago and have some questions. I was wondering if anybody here has been on Atkins and now switched to this? If so, how is this different, better, worse, etc.? I don't really see how this diet is so much different from the Atkins diet so I am a little confused.
Also, how are the meals if you are allergic to dairy (including milk derivatives such as whey and sodium caseinate) and eggs?
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Hugs,
K

I am pretty new (started SBD on 10/12) and mostly just lurk, but I recently switched from Atkins. I just find this a little easier, as I have never been a big meat eater ...I was a vegetarian for about 5 years ... so the meal selections are easier for me. Because I don't have a carb limit per day, I can eat until I am full without worrying about hitting 20 carbs etc... at lunch and trying to eat enough meat at dinner to feel full but not lethargic. I did lose a few pounds on Atkins, so I have nothing negative to say, its just a personal food selection change for me. I do miss the cream in my coffee, but having the lower fat selections at home works better for my family .... my husband is an athlete so even though he could eat the higher fat stuff he doesn't. I am looking to lose the last 20 lbs from having 2 babies almost back to back....01/03 ... and maybe 5 more for good measure!

So I suppose it's only different when compared to the induction phase Atkins puts you on but the maintenance phase seems similar to me. I haven't read the whole book yet but I hope to do so soon. I miss the heavy cream in my coffee, too, but I can't have it anymore due to my dairy allergy. It's a pain, especially when eating out. Oh well. But I am interested now what the SBD says about fat since you say you miss the heavy cream. Is it because of fat?
Thanks again and I may be around more.
